Although most of them have been reprinted many times, the content conveyed in each page of the authors and historical figures remains valuable today. And I am lucky to have in my hands one of the 25 books in this special series. That is the memoir "The Path Following Uncle Ho" by comrade Hoang Quoc Viet, also known as Ha Ba Cang (1905-1992). He is a revolutionary predecessor of the Party, an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people, one of the outstanding students of President Ho Chi Minh .

Comrade Hoang Quoc Viet joined the revolution in 1925, former member of the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party, former member of the Politburo of the Vietnam Workers' Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam ), a steadfast and courageous revolutionary activist. The memoir "The Road Following Uncle Ho" was edited and published by the People's Army Publishing House, 600 pages thick, printed on 14 x 22.5cm paper, divided into 2 main parts with the titles "The Hot Road" and "The Road Following Uncle Ho".

With a simple and honest storytelling style, comrade Hoang Quoc Viet recounted his revolutionary activities associated with Uncle Ho, from the first days of joining the revolution, nurturing his feelings and faith in leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh to the times he met and worked directly with him in Bach Sac (China) as well as when he returned to the Viet Bac base or ATK Tan Trao...

Each page of the book takes readers back to the historical days of nearly a century ago, when faith and ideals enlightened by the journey following Uncle Ho became the flame of faith that led communists firmly on the revolutionary path.

Readers cannot help but be moved when encountering the image of worker Hoang Quoc Viet “coming back to his boarding house at night, lying among workers in ragged clothes, unable to sleep”, remembering the carpenter uprising that made the bosses afraid and longing for someone to confide in. Or the trip to the South to carry out Uncle Ho’s instructions, then fiercely fighting with the people of Saigon in the early days of the Southern resistance.

In particular, the majority of the book is about the years of fighting side by side with him in the resistance war against the French colonialists with many happy and sad memories. Not only recounting historical events, the author also devoted many pages to recording the deep impression of President Ho Chi Minh's lifestyle, ideology and caring concern for his comrades and compatriots. Through that, the image of Uncle Ho appears as simple, close, yet shining with the intelligence and stature of an outstanding leader.

“We have written a lot about Uncle Ho but still feel that it is lacking. It is lacking because Uncle Ho's career is extremely great, while we have not yet fully reflected it. It is lacking because Uncle Ho's ideology is great, but our level is still low, we have not yet fully analyzed it. But I think that we do not only talk about Uncle Ho, but the important thing is what we have done according to Uncle Ho's teachings. The victorious resistance war against the US to save the country is a milestone that shows that we have excellently implemented Uncle Ho's teachings: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". When the whole country embarked on building socialism, we went through countless trials, explorations, failures and successes intertwined, all aimed at the goal of a rich people and a strong country", Comrade Hoang Quoc Viet affirmed...

“The Path Following Uncle Ho” is not only the personal story of comrade Hoang Quoc Viet, but also a vivid re-enactment of a historical period of the country, of a generation following the light of Ho Chi Minh. In the last pages of the book, reading the passage: “I want to stop here with my memoirs about Uncle Ho. Later, if I have the chance, I will continue to write about my memories of Uncle Ho during the days of building socialism and fighting against the US to save the country”, the reader still feels “longing” and secretly wishes that Uncle Ho was there on the day of great victory!
