On March 21, Mr. Vu Le Thai Hoang, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria, had a working session with Ms. Claudia Reinprecht, Technology Ambassador of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
At the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang outlined the goals and 7 groups of tasks and solutions of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, focusing on promoting cooperation in scientific research and technology development with countries with advanced science and technology and digital transformation development, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technology, semiconductors, nuclear energy and other strategic technologies.
The Ambassador emphasized that these are also emerging high-tech fields that Austria is holding, developing source technology and core technology that are ranked top in Europe and the world .
Therefore, Vietnam is very interested in and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Austrian high-tech enterprises, thereby paving the way for breakthroughs and autonomy in science and technology and digital transformation in Vietnam, creating an important premise to realize Vietnam's aspiration to rise up in a new era of wealth and prosperity.
Expressing her impression of the determination and vision of Resolution 57, Technology Ambassador Claudia Reinprecht affirmed her support for further strengthening the high-tech and strategic technology partnership with Vietnam in the coming time.
Ambassador Claudia Reinprecht said that the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed Cyber Ambassador in 2019 and decided to upgrade the appointment to Tech Ambassador in 2022 with three main tasks: Participate and contribute to global emerging technology governance, promote ethics in AI and quantum technology; research and forecast new technology trends to promptly advise the Government to grasp and take the lead; introduce, promote and connect the market for Austrian technology with international partners, expand the technology ecosystem from Europe to the world, in which Asia is a very important market.
Ms. Claudia Reinprecht shared that in addition to its strengths in traditional technologies such as mechanics, automobiles, and electronics, Austria is currently among the leading countries in semiconductor technology (top 3 in Europe), quantum (top 20 in the world), artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, neurotechnology, and life sciences.
The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is investing in research and development of digital security technology, and plans to organize the International Conference on Data Science (May 26-28) and the International Forum on Digital Security (June 4-6).
The Austrian Technology Ambassador affirmed that there is still much potential for cooperation in source technology and core technology between Austria and Vietnam, including training high-tech human resources.
Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang affirmed that the priority during his term is to promote technology diplomacy with Austria and announced plans to coordinate with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to organize the Vietnam-Austria Forum on high technology and innovation on May 16 in Vienna.
