From July 1, 2025, the provincial trade union organization officially operates a new model in a more streamlined but more effective direction. Accordingly, the whole province has completed the process of dissolving and transferring district, industry, and city-level trade unions, as well as rearranging the entire organizational structure and staffing. Specifically, 13 grassroots trade unions have been dissolved; 1,101 grassroots trade unions in the administrative and public service sectors have ceased operations.
The entire organizational structure advising and assisting the Provincial Federation of Labor was reduced from 3 committees to 1 Trade Union Working Committee, under the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee. The Trade Union Working Committee under the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee was established with 10 full-time staff. This is the core force directly connecting the provincial trade union organization and grassroots trade unions.
Ms. Be Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial Labor Federation, shared: The restructuring of the apparatus is not simply about streamlining the payroll, but more importantly, improving the quality of the team and the effectiveness of operations. The current Trade Union Working Committee has a streamlined structure, but still ensures functions and tasks, avoids overlap and increases coordination. This is also an opportunity for the trade union to innovate more deeply in terms of content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, taking workers as the center.
Currently, the Provincial Federation of Labor directly manages 182 grassroots unions with more than 11,300 union members. Immediately after operating under the new model, the leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor assigned specific tasks to each cadre, while strengthening inspection and supervision of the grassroots and developing an action program with the motto "All for the workers". During this time, the union is focusing its efforts on practical activities such as regular dialogues, supporting shift meals, improving the skills of grassroots union cadres and promoting the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots unions, especially in non-state enterprises.
On July 16, at Chi Ma HTT General Import-Export Service Joint Stock Company in Mau Son Commune - a non-state enterprise, the launching ceremony of the Trade Union took place with 65 Vietnamese workers. At the same time, with the support of the Provincial Federation of Labor, the company successfully organized a "Trade Union Meal" for Vietnamese workers and left a deep impression.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union, said: The Trade Union was established, and the workers were very excited. We are urgently building a coordination regulation between the union and the company. Initially, we will organize activities to take care of meals, reward union members, support union members in difficult circumstances, etc. to quickly promote the role of protecting rights, providing support when necessary, and helping to connect the spirit between workers and the company.
This is just one of the evidences showing that the activities of the trade union organization continue to be maintained and promoted effectively even after the major change in organizational structure. In the new context, the trade union organization identifies the core task as improving the capacity to care for Vietnamese workers.
In addition to newly established grassroots unions, trade unions that have been operating for a long time are also renewing themselves to meet new requirements. Ms. Hoang Thi Hue, Chairwoman of the grassroots union of DK Viet Nhat Electric Vehicle Company Limited, shared: The union is now not only a political organization, but also a place to support civil servants and workers. We proactively participate in giving opinions on building internal spending regulations, supporting union members to increase their legal income, and promoting their professional capacity through specialized activities...
To practically celebrate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025), immediately after operating the new apparatus, on July 9, 2025, the Provincial Federation of Labor issued instructions for grassroots trade unions to organize "Union Meals" in 2025, from July 20 to September 2, in which the highlight is the week of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28) and National Day (September 2). Not only does it improve nutrition, this program also has a profound spiritual meaning: creating a space for exchange between workers and business leaders, between workers and trade unions.
The positive changes after the reorganization, along with the spirit of focusing on the grassroots and practically caring for the workers, are creating a strong shift in trade union activities in Lang Son . That innovation is the path for the trade union to develop sustainably, and to fulfill its mission of representing and protecting workers in the new context.
