In recent years, the emulation movement "Excellent workers, creative workers" in Long An province has attracted a large number of workers and laborers to participate. During the labor and production process, many workers have made efforts to research and come up with many initiatives to help improve product quality, save costs and improve the working environment.

Small initiative, big effect

As the Production Director of LA1 Garment Factory, Thuan Phuong Embroidery Garment Company Limited (Can Duoc District), Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha (born in 1977, from Thanh Hoa Province) is quite passionate and enthusiastic about the profession . Born into a family with a tradition of working in the garment industry, Mr. Ha "got into" the profession early. After leaving the army, he chose to start a business in Long An and started working at the garment factory as a worker. "At that time, I just thought that whatever I did, I would do my best. I had to learn from reality, set goals and try my best every day. The saying "today is better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow" became a guiding principle reminding me to work every day" - Mr. Ha shared.

With over 24 years of experience in the garment industry, from a demobilized soldier, Mr. Ha has gradually risen from the position of technical worker to manager. He constantly learns, improves his skills, grasps innovation trends and modern production models. In particular, he is a typical example of a pioneering spirit of innovation in the production process.

One of the typical initiatives successfully implemented by Mr. Ha and the technical team is the improvement of the 3-in-1 combination process, simultaneously performing the operations of measuring, cutting and marking the waistband elastic on one machine. Before the improvement, these stages were done manually separately: measuring by hand, cutting with scissors, sewing and using chalk to mark the dividing points, which made the operation time longer and prone to errors. After the improvement, the entire process was integrated into a highly automated mechanical system, using a 3-thread overlock sewing machine with a cutting knife combined with sensors and a hydraulic pen to accurately mark immediately after sewing.

Mr. Ha said: “This initiative helps shorten the operation time to about 3 seconds/product, according to calculations, it will save labor costs up to 720 million VND per year; at the same time, reduce work pressure and errors for workers. Many people think that innovation is a big thing, but sometimes just paying close attention to a small operation can create a turning point in productivity.”

What Mr. Ha is most proud of is not only the financial savings but also the contribution to improving the health, income and spirit of the team of workers. For him, improvement is not the task of the management alone but the common task of the whole company; at the same time, it requires listening, observing carefully in each stage and recording the ideas and suggestions of each employee.

Recently, Mr. Ha was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Excellent Labor, Creative Labor" in 2024. When being commended, Mr. Ha humbly said that it was a great honor, not only for himself but also for the LA1 Garment Factory. "I am proud to be Uncle Ho's soldier, a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam . Therefore, difficulties for me are opportunities to overcome and grow up" - Mr. Ha said.

Innovative thinking in Human Resources

Enthusiastically compete in the movement “Good workers, creative workers” aiming at exploiting domestic and provincial resources, improving product and service quality, saving and reducing costs, maintaining the brand of Vietnamese goods to compete in the domestic market and boosting exports to the world market. In particular, the movement “Good workers, creative workers” needs to focus on implementing 3 breakthrough programs and 3 key projects according to the Resolution of the 11th Long An Provincial Party Congress.

Recently, Ms. Tran Thi Tuong Van (born in 1999) - HR staff of Maker Sixty Four Company Limited (Duc Hoa district, Long An province), was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Excellent workers, creative workers" in 2024. More than achievements, what Ms. Van is most proud of is her willingness to say "Yes" to challenges, because according to her, that is the best way to grow and inspire others.

In a field that is considered “less applicable” like human resources, Ms. Van has proven the opposite. “It is the clear goals from a young age that help me always know what I need to learn and what skills I need to supplement, especially in the context of the modern human resources profession that requires not only professional knowledge but also technology and internal communication skills. Human resources is a human job, there is no absolute right or wrong, only suitability and persuasion” - Ms. Van shared.

Over the years, Ms. Van has made many contributions through innovative initiatives in event organization and recruitment activities at the Company. With the Year End Party program with a scale of up to 1,500 people, instead of using paper name tags and manual check-in as before, she proposed a digital solution using personal QR codes. Each person only needs to scan the code and the system will display full information and portrait photos, helping to reduce pressure on the check-in desk, increase processing speed and ensure accurate data.

Not stopping there, in the company's Lucky Draw event, she combined OBS Studio software and VBA Excel programming to draw random numbers transparently, broadcast live on social networking platforms. This solution helps all employees in other workshops and branches to participate in the lottery remotely. The gift giving and winner statistics are also processed quickly and accurately.

In the recruitment sector, Ms. Van and her team built a systematic recruitment communication system: Fanpage, Zalo OA, TikTok channel. She also coordinated with the commercial department to develop a job section on the company's website, contributing to increasing recognition and recruitment branding - Employee Branding (aimed at connecting employees with the internal brand).

“Many times I have taken on more than 80% of the workload myself when I have not found a technology-savvy partner to help me implement it. However, these difficulties have trained me to be persistent, self-studying, and able to quickly adapt to new trends such as internal livestreaming and one-touch NFC systems,” said Ms. Van.

Mr. Ha and Ms. Van are two of the typical examples of the emulation movement "Excellent workers, creative workers". In recent years, this movement has been considered by the Trade Unions at all levels as a breakthrough spearhead, strongly arousing the dynamism, creativity, will to overcome difficulties, and enthusiasm of workers in labor and production./.

Each union member and employee needs to promote the spirit of responsibility, creativity, and flexibility in labor and production; constantly study and improve professional skills, expertise, and technical skills; actively respond to the emulation movement "Good workers, creative workers". Unions at all levels need to focus on organizing practical and effective activities to care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; promptly resolve difficulties and gain the trust of union members, employees, civil servants, and employees, and the support of Party committees, authorities, and employers.
