Binh Thuan Electricity Company notes on electrical safety during the rainy and stormy season

To prevent electrical accidents during the rainy season, people need to:

Báo Bình ThuậnBáo Bình Thuận28/05/2025

1. Proactively check and reinforce houses, especially structures with roofs, corrugated iron roofs, and ancillary structures that are allowed to remain within the high-voltage power grid safety corridor. Avoid placing roofing materials, trees, and other objects that could be blown onto live power lines by the wind.

2. When an incident is detected, people should not approach the scene on their own if there are broken wires, flooding or damaged electrical equipment after a storm... but should immediately report it to the authorities or local electricity for timely handling.

3. Do not stand near electric poles or take shelter under transformer stations when it is raining or there is a thunderstorm; do not wrap or hang electric wires on dry trees, but fix the wires to insulators to ensure safety.

4. Do not directly touch electric poles, ground wires, cables, electric meters, circuit breakers or outdoor electrical equipment. Do not go on the terrace or roof if there are power lines running across it. Never attempt to repair outdoor electrical wires or equipment yourself.

5. If the house is flooded, the floor is wet due to rain or water splashes on the sockets and electrical equipment, the power source must be turned off immediately to avoid the risk of electric shock or fire. Sockets, wires and electrical equipment should be installed in high places, away from places that are prone to moisture or flooding. In addition, it is necessary to install suitable anti-electric leakage devices to ensure safety when using electricity.

6. Power supply to outdoor electrical equipment (signs, billboards, etc.) should be cut off when it rains heavily or is windy. When detecting any unusual or unsafe electrical phenomena, in order to be promptly handled, prevented, and resolved, electricity customers, organizations, individuals, and people should immediately call the 24/7 hotline of EVNSPC Customer Service Center via 19001006 - 19009000 or phone number 114 - Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department - Rescue and Relief.

7. In addition, people also need to pay attention to some measures to prevent and reduce the effects of tornadoes and gusts of wind such as building solid structures and houses; bracing houses to increase stability; pruning branches and branches of tall trees that are easy to break and fall near houses and power grids. For houses with roofs made of leaves, galvanized iron, fiber cement, tiles, etc., it is necessary to cross-brace them according to the instructions. When there are tornadoes and gusts of wind, find a safe shelter (solid house); do not hide under the shade of trees or makeshift houses.

Binh Thuan Electricity Company recommends and propagates to customers using electricity, organizations, individuals, and people in the province to pay attention to the above contents, to prevent tragic electrical accidents that may occur. People and businesses should proactively prevent and raise awareness to protect themselves and those around them to ensure the safety of their property and lives as well as to ensure that the power source is always safe and continuous.
