Measures to prevent dengue fever
In addition to the efforts of the health sector and authorities at all levels, to prevent disease for themselves, their families and those around them, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends that people proactively implement the following disease prevention measures:
- Cover all water containers tightly to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.
- Weekly, take measures to kill mosquito larvae by releasing fish into large water containers; washing medium and small water containers, turning over containers that do not contain water; changing the water in flower vases; adding salt or oil or larvicidal chemicals to the bowl of water placed under the cupboard.
- Weekly remove waste materials and natural water holes that do not allow mosquitoes to lay eggs such as bottles, jars, broken glass, coconut shells, broken jars, old tires/tires, bamboo holes, leaf sheaths...
- Sleep under mosquito nets and wear long clothes to prevent mosquito bites even during the day. - Actively cooperate with the health sector in chemical spraying to prevent and control epidemics.
- When you have a fever, go to a medical facility immediately for examination and treatment advice. Do not self-treat at home.
- Each household should spend 10 minutes each week to prevent dengue fever with the following simple movements:
+ Check, detect and destroy mosquito larvae in domestic water containers by regularly washing, covering tanks and water containers tightly, and releasing fish to destroy mosquito larvae.
+ Regularly change the water in vases, add salt or chemicals to bowls of water placed on cupboards, aquariums, rockeries, etc.
+ Remove waste materials, natural water holes, turn over unused water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.
