According to information from the meeting of the Government's Price Management Steering Committee, the average consumer price index (CPI) in the first 7 months of the year is estimated to increase by about 3.2% - 3.3% compared to the same period last year. The Ministry of Finance commented that this is an appropriate increase to support economic growth in the context of resources being focused on promoting economic growth at the highest level.
Specifically, in July 2025, 9/11 CPI groups increased compared to the previous month. Of which, the housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 0.67% due to a 4% increase in housing maintenance materials; rental housing increased by 0.31%.
The culture, entertainment and tourism group increased by 0.49% because it is summer vacation so cultural, entertainment and tourism activities increased.
The food and catering services group increased by 0.39% mainly due to a 0.43% increase in food prices and a 0.57% increase in eating out. The remaining groups saw a slight increase in CPI.
The Ministry of Finance also forecasts a number of factors that will put pressure on the price level at the end of the year, such as the prices of raw materials, some types of food, beverages, and clothing, or climate change, which will become increasingly severe with greater scale and frequency.
