Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge creates development momentum for the entire Mekong Delta region

On the afternoon of August 7, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led a Central working delegation to inspect and survey the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project, the implementation of two-level local government, and the progress of the Son Dong social housing area in Vinh Long province.

At the inspection of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and contractors in completing the project 5 months ahead of schedule compared to the original plan, and at the same time proposed that the Ministry of Construction reward the excellent construction units.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: “Rach Mieu 2 Bridge plays a strategic role, not only solving the infrastructure problem for the two provinces but also creating a driving force for socio -economic development for the entire Mekong Delta region. When the transport infrastructure is smoothly connected, people and businesses will directly benefit from the values it brings."

Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi said that when put into use, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will contribute to reducing the load on the existing bridge, expanding the inter-regional traffic axis, enhancing connectivity and trade, and promoting the development of the Mekong Delta region.

The project is invested by My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), with a total capital of more than 6,810 billion VND from the State budget. To date, the project site has been completely handed over; the value of construction output reached more than 3,269 billion VND, equivalent to 99.55% of the contract value. Construction started in March 2022, the project is expected to be completed in August 2025 but is now ready for operation.

* On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected the two-level local government model in Phu Tuc commune (Vinh Long), directly monitored the process of receiving and handling administrative procedures and listened to the opinions of people and officials.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested localities to implement synchronously, effectively, transparently, ensure connectivity between government levels, and promptly remove obstacles such as: public administrative center facilities, equipment, online support software, etc.

* In the evening of the same day , the Deputy Prime Minister inspected the Son Dong social housing area (Son Dong ward) and visited the households who had moved into the CC1 apartment building. Here, he highly appreciated the reasonable, cool, and convenient apartment design, meeting the living needs of the people.

Therefore, localities need to pay attention, be proactive, and work with investors to remove difficulties and obstacles, and soon implement social housing projects in the coming time so that people can access stable and long-term housing.

The Son Dong social housing project has an area of 0.52ha, a total investment of 241 billion VND, including 240 apartments in 2 apartment buildings CC1 and CC2. Currently, CC1 apartment building has completed 95 apartments, with a selling price of 15.516 million VND/m², with 46 households moving in. CC2 apartment building has completed piling, preparing to enter the next construction phase.
