Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge creates development momentum for the entire Mekong Delta region

On the afternoon of August 7, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led a Central working delegation to inspect and survey the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project, the implementation of two-level local government, and the progress of the Son Dong social housing area in Vinh Long province.

At the inspection of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the investor and contractors in completing the project 5 months ahead of schedule compared to the original plan, and at the same time requested the Ministry of Construction to reward the excellent construction units.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: “Rach Mieu 2 Bridge plays a strategic role, not only solving the infrastructure problem for the two provinces but also creating a driving force for socio -economic development for the entire Mekong Delta region. When the traffic infrastructure is smoothly connected, people and businesses will directly benefit from the values ​​it brings."

Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Lu Quang Ngoi said that when put into use, Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will contribute to reducing the load on the existing bridge, expanding inter-regional traffic axis, enhancing connectivity and trade, and promoting development of the Mekong Delta region.

The project is invested by My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), with a total capital of more than VND 6,810 billion from the State budget. To date, the project site has been completely handed over; the value of construction output reached more than VND 3,269 billion, equivalent to 99.55% of the contract value. Construction started in March 2022, the project is expected to be completed in August 2025 but is now ready for operation.

* On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected the two-level local government model in Phu Tuc commune (Vinh Long), directly monitored the process of receiving and handling administrative procedures and listened to the opinions of people and officials.

Here, he highly appreciated the reasonable, cool, and convenient apartment design, meeting the living needs of the people.

The Son Dong social housing project has an area of ​​0.52 hectares, with a total investment of 241 billion VND, including 240 apartments in 2 apartment buildings CC1 and CC2. Currently, CC1 apartment building has completed 95 apartments, with a selling price of 15,516 million VND/m², and 46 households have moved in. CC2 apartment building has completed piling, preparing to enter the next construction phase.
