Teddy bear toss is an activity of throwing teddy bears onto the basketball court during halftime to raise funds for children. This activity is quite popular in the West but not much in Vietnam.
Spreading positive energy for the 5th time
A rain of stuffed animals makes children happier
Teddy bear toss has been held for many years now at Saigon Heat matches. About a week before the tournament, the organizers will call on fans to contribute. Then, teddy bears will be purchased and placed in the stands.
Fans and players can prepare their own stuffed animals if they like. The huge amount of stuffed animals with various colors, sizes, shapes… is a meaningful gift for children who have difficult circumstances compared to their peers.
In 2024, about 550 teddy bears were handed out to children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and will be given away for the upcoming Lunar New Year. In addition, some teddy bears were sent directly to orphanages in Ho Chi Minh City.
