The patient was admitted to the hospital with acute cerebral infarction due to right middle cerebral artery occlusion causing hemiplegia and difficulty speaking. At the Emergency Department, the patient was treated according to the acute stroke procedure, with coordination between the following departments: Emergency, Cerebrovascular Pathology Department, Diagnostic Imaging and Neurovascular Intervention Unit.
The results of cerebral perfusion MRI combined with RAPID AI artificial intelligence software to evaluate the damaged brain tissue area showed that the patient had a right middle cerebral artery occlusion on a severe stenosis due to atherosclerosis, with an indication for cerebral vascular intervention to remove the thrombus. The patient was transferred to the Neurovascular Intervention Unit to remove the thrombus and dilate the stenosis site, with good results after the intervention.
After 1 day of intervention, the patient was alert, had good contact, stable vital signs, improved left hemibody muscle strength, MRI scan showed good revascularization, was able to walk and eat normally. By the morning of June 2, the patient was walking almost normally, had improved speech function, ate well, had stable vital signs and continued to receive care and rehabilitation, and was expected to return home soon.
