Online ticket sales channels through websites such as dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn... account for 66% of the total number of tickets; the remaining 34% are sold directly at stations and agents. According to the railway industry, Tet train tickets from February 3 to February 9, 2026 (before December 23) and from February 14 to February 16, 2026 (December 27 to 29) are still available for all stations. However, on peak days from February 10 to February 14, 2026 (December 23 to 27), there are only about 2,500 seats left.
Specifically: On February 10 (December 23), there are 1,045 tickets left to all stations. On February 11 (December 24), there are 199 tickets left, mostly soft seats, ending at Vinh station. On February 12 (December 25), there are 121 tickets left, mostly soft seats, to Vinh station. On February 13 (December 26), there are 175 tickets left, mostly soft seats, ending at Vinh station. On February 14 (December 27), there are 1,044 tickets left, going to all stations.
The railway industry said that passengers who buy train tickets for Tet for 10 days or more with a distance of over 900 km will receive a discount of 5% to 15% on tickets for odd-numbered trains before Tet (February 3 to February 17, 2026) and even-numbered trains after Tet (February 21 to March 8, 2026). In addition, the industry will reduce ticket prices by 3% for passengers who buy tickets for Thong Nhat trains departing from Saigon station on February 15, 2026 (December 28) and traveling 1,000 km or more. In addition, a discount of 2% to 12% will be given to passengers who buy group tickets of 11 people or more (depending on the number, time and schedule). A discount of 5% will be given to passengers who buy return tickets (round-trip tickets). A discount of 10% to 20% will be given to students of universities, academies, colleges, professional and vocational high schools. The industry also continues to offer discounts for Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, people infected with toxic chemicals, people with severe disabilities, the elderly, children from 6 to under 10 years old and passengers with customer cards.
This year, the railway will sell extra seat tickets for children aged 6 to under 10 when traveling with an adult. Each adult ticket is purchased with an extra seat ticket for a child, a seat or bed shared with an adult. The railway also sells extra seat tickets for officers, soldiers of the armed forces, police on sudden business trips, military service, and reporters on assignment.
Regarding ticket exchange and return, the industry applies a 30% discount on the ticket price for peak days. Other days apply according to normal regulations. Individual tickets must be exchanged/returned 24 hours in advance; group tickets must be exchanged/returned 48 hours before the train departure time printed on the ticket.
