On the morning of May 16, visiting and congratulating all civil servants, public employees and employees of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Da Nang on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18), Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that Da Nang City identifies science and technology and innovation (STI) as the foundation for sustainable development.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi sent her congratulations to the team of scientists, researchers, organizations and individuals working in the field of science and technology for their contributions to the socio -economic development of Da Nang City, especially in the context of strong digital transformation.
At the same time, she emphasized that science and technology and innovation are the driving force for Da Nang to realize the goal of building a smart, livable and highly competitive city in the region. The city's leaders are committed to continuing to invest, support and accompany the scientific research community and innovation enterprises to create favorable conditions for ideas and technological solutions to be soon applied in practice, serving the people and improving the quality of urban management and operation.
Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang, Tran Ngoc Thach, said that the Department will continue to strive to complete assigned tasks in the fields of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, in line with the spirit of the theme of Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18, 2025: "Science and technology, innovation and digital transformation: Breakthroughs to bring the country into an era of wealth and prosperity".
According to the announcement of the Local Innovation Index by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Da Nang City ranked 4th in 2023 and 5th in 2024 nationwide. Da Nang was honored and awarded the "Attractive City for Innovation Startups" award by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Notably, in 2024, Da Nang will be included for the first time in the list of Top 1,000 typical global cities for startup ecosystems according to the ranking of the StartupBlink Center for Research and Mapping of Global Startup Ecosystems, up 130 places in the rankings compared to 2023 (Vietnam currently has only 3 localities on this list including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang).
By 2024, the digital economy will contribute about 22% of Da Nang's GRDP. The city is shifting towards taking science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as an important foundation and main driving force to promote economic development, transform the growth model and focus on business development.
