Da Nang welcomes and sees off thousands of passengers on the Thong Nhat train on April 30.

(QNO) - This afternoon, April 30, at Da Nang station, we witnessed a memorable moment when two Thong Nhat trains departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City met in Da Nang City.

In the joyful atmosphere of the whole country welcoming the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Vietnam Railways Corporation held a ceremony to welcome and see off these two trains.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the Da Nang People's Committee, the Ministry of Construction , the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with thousands of veterans, historical witnesses, tourists and people of Da Nang.

At Da Nang station, the organizers welcomed and saw off nearly 900 passengers on the Thong Nhat train. Of these, 400 passengers got off the train at Da Nang station and nearly 500 passengers boarded the train to continue their journey to Hanoi station and Saigon station.

According to the representative of the Vietnam Railway Corporation, for the Vietnamese people, the image of the Thong Nhat train connecting the North and South has become a symbol of peace, of the aspiration for national independence and the joy of victory and reunion.

With the desire to recreate the historical atmosphere of the day of national reunification; to show gratitude to previous generations and to educate patriotic traditions, on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, Vietnam Railways Corporation organized a pair of trains named Thong Nhat Train, including 1 train (SE1) departing from Hanoi station at 20:55 on April 29 to Saigon station at 6:50 on May 1, 2025 and 1 train (SE4) departing from Saigon station at 19:00 on April 29, arriving at Hanoi station at 5:40 on May 1, 2025.

The train is decorated with the theme “Unification Railway – United Country” to spread national pride, solidarity, creativity and innovation of Vietnamese enterprises.

Throughout the journey, passengers were able to live in the festival atmosphere with art programs featuring revolutionary songs praising the homeland performed by the Railway Assault Art Team.

In particular, from Hue station to Da Nang (for SE1) and from Tam Ky - Da Nang (for SE4 train), passengers are welcomed with a live music program performed by artists.

At Da Nang Railway Station, passengers will be welcomed with vibrant music and drum dance performances and many meaningful gratitude activities such as: Offering incense to commemorate the heroes and martyrs of the Da Nang Railway Depot Party Cell; giving gifts to veterans, people with revolutionary contributions, former railway officials who contributed to the resistance war; releasing doves...

On this occasion, in addition to the general gifts for passengers, For passengers who are war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans... traveling on the Reunification Train will receive a special gift of an invitation ticket to travel on the Vietnam railway network.

To express deep gratitude to those who have contributed to the revolution, from April 24, 2025 to May 9, 2025, the railway industry will reduce 40% of train tickets for passengers who are war invalids, people who enjoy policies such as war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, and relatives of people who have contributed to the revolution. Currently, the unit has sold more than 1,000 train tickets to people who have contributed to the revolution.
