Currently, Da Nang has 3 international-class golf courses: Legend Da Nang Golf Resort (including two courses Nicklaus and Norman), Ba Na Hills Golf Club and BRG Da Nang Golf Resort. These golf courses have unique designs, were built by world golf legends and are always highly appreciated by experts and golfers.
In particular, Ba Na Hills Golf Club has entered the top 100 best golf resorts in the world and ranked first in Asia according to GOLF magazine (USA) in 2024. In 2024, the total number of golf rounds in Da Nang reached more than 386,000 rounds, an increase of 5% over the same period last year.
Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said that the city is becoming a regional golf center with a diverse product ecosystem and high competitiveness. Within a radius of 50km, Da Nang has 8 international standard golf courses, designed by famous golfers. In particular, the golf courses are located near the airport and the city center, convenient for travel, helping tourists easily combine relaxation, entertainment and shopping.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Chairman of the Danang Tourism Association, golf tourism is a trend chosen by many tourists, especially Asian tourists, of which South Korea accounts for a large number. A golf tour usually lasts 5-6 days, tourists not only play golf but also visit Hoi An, Ba Na Hills and other famous places.
Many golfers travel with their families, while the golfers play, their relatives can participate in tourism and resort activities. This helps the golfer segment with high spending ability, long-term stay, contributing to promoting the high-end resort market in Da Nang.
In addition, opening new international flights will help Da Nang conveniently welcome more groups of golfers from other countries, expanding the tourism market in the future.
Leverage for golf tourism development
According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in the strategy for developing Vietnam's tourism until 2030, the Prime Minister has identified golf tourism as one of the key directions. In recent years, Da Nang has actively connected with global golf organizations, hosting many major tournaments, including the 2025 Asian Golf Tourism Convention - the second time this event has returned to the city.
The event took place over 7 days, gathering 450 delegates, including 350 international delegates from more than 35 countries. This was an opportunity to promote the world-class golf course system, attracting the attention of golf course operators, travel businesses and leading golf experts in the world.
Mr. Cao Tri Dung commented: "The return of the Asian Golf Championship to Da Nang is a clear demonstration of the city's attraction and organizational capacity, affirming Da Nang's position on the global golf map."
Not only stopping at tourism, golf also opens up opportunities for cooperation and investment, when many businessmen come to Da Nang to both play golf and seek business opportunities. Therefore, building a long-term strategy for golf tourism is necessary, making Da Nang a leading golf destination in the region, making an important contribution to the city's socio-economic development.
