Distinctive, bustling new atmosphere

Since the third day of Lunar New Year, circus, puppetry, opera, drama, music and dance stages have been bustlingly opening up the spring, becoming a rendezvous for the public to enjoy art.

A fun and exciting "party"

As every year, the Vietnam Circus Federation opens the spring with the circus program "Celebrating the Party, Celebrating Spring". This year, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, revealed that the program is more elaborately staged, besides the attractive circus performances are meaningful messages about the Party, Uncle Ho, about the achievements that our country has achieved under the leadership of the Party. The program lasts about 90 minutes, opens at 10:00 on the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year (January 31) and performs 6 consecutive shows in 3 days, at the Central Circus (No. 67-69 Tran Nhan Tong Street, Hai Ba Trung District). Besides the adventurous twists and turns, flying trapeze, human stacking, horse, dog, monkey circus, etc., the program has songs praising the Party, homeland and country. Notably, in the program, circus artists will create lotus shapes - the national flower symbol - and snake mascot shapes, welcoming the new year of At Ty...

On the evening of February 3, at the August Revolution Square (Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District), a special art program will take place, "Special art program to celebrate the Party, celebrate Spring, celebrate the country's renewal" hosted by the Vietnam National Academy of Music, in coordination with the Vietnam National Music and Dance Theater, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater and related units. Through elaborately staged and attractive music and dance performances, the program aims to create a joyful, healthy and exciting atmosphere for people to welcome the Spring of At Ty 2025.

Hanoi Cheo Theater has completed the new play “Tears of Trang Quynh” imbued with traditional Vietnamese culture to perform for the audience on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Snake. The play depicts the character of Trang Quynh, a famous person who is intelligent, humorous and loves the people, with a brave spirit against tyranny and oppression in feudal society.

In addition to the traditional water puppet shows that serve throughout Tet, welcoming the Spring of At Ty, Thang Long Puppetry Theater also brings to the audience two newly staged works, which are the water puppet show “Hoang De Co Lau” about King Dinh Tien Hoang and the stick puppet show “Tam Cam” based on the folk tale. The new version of “Tam Cam” uses the script of Cheo theater and the most special thing is that the artists not only perform puppetry but also act, dialogue and sing Cheo.

The first gift of the Year of the Snake that the Youth Theater presents to the audience of the Capital is the program "Spring of Laughter" performed from February 7, at the Youth Theater (No. 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hai Ba Trung District). The audience will have moments of happy and refreshing laughter through special skits such as "Symphony of Hearts", "Idol", "The Irony of the Boss and the Pig", "The Honest One Fears the Wicked". Interspersed are lively and colorful spring songs. The program is even more attractive with the participation of famous comedians such as Meritorious Artists: Chi Trung, Si Tien, Nguyet Hang; actors Anh Tho, Thanh Duong, Thanh Tu, Phan Thang, Luong Thu Trang, etc.

Vietnam Drama Theater also organizes the program "Spring 25 - Red Valentine" to welcome the Spring of At Ty with the audience of the Capital. The program will bring to the audience the play "Good person in house number 5" - an excellent work by playwright Luu Quang Vu, under the talented director - People's Artist Ta Tuan Minh. Full of creative spirit

This year's art programs to welcome the new year, in addition to bringing joyful and refreshing laughter, also contain humane and meaningful messages about love for one's homeland and country, kindness and preservation of traditional values.

According to People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, the program "Celebrating the Party, Celebrating the Spring of At Ty 2025" is an art program with political significance but is not dry but rich in entertainment elements with unique, surprising, and dramatic performances of circus art. The most important issue is that the director and artists find the "key" to touch the emotions of the audience. This is both a challenge and a motivation for stage artists to demonstrate their creativity.

To create the two unique works “The Emperor of the Reed Flag” and “Tam Cam” to welcome the new year, Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Hien, Director of the Thang Long Puppetry Theatre, said that the artists have been diligently creating and practicing for many months. The plays have selected the most unique folk tales from hundreds of ancient tales in the treasure trove of Vietnamese puppetry.

According to the Director of Thang Long Puppetry Theatre, the spring opening stage is always focused on by art units, because this is the activity to kick off a new year of artistic creation. The excitement and enthusiasm will inspire artists to make efforts to contribute.

People's Artist Thu Huyen, Deputy Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater, said that the theater dedicated a folk-themed Cheo play to the audience on the occasion of the new spring, not only bringing joy and laughter but also emphasizing the meaning of returning to tradition and origin. In addition, the play "Tears of Trang Quynh" this spring is also a place for young artists to show their talent and passion for creating traditional Cheo art.
