Senior Lieutenant Dinh Trong Nam, Captain of Vinh Thuc Island Company (Mong Cai City), regardless of his position, always completes all assigned tasks well and excellently. He is considered an exemplary officer, enthusiastic, responsible, taking the lead in all tasks, with good professional qualifications; a role model for officers and soldiers in the unit to follow.

After graduating from Army Officer School 1, in August 2019, Dinh Trong Nam was assigned to Platoon 2, Company 5, Battalion 8, Regiment 43, Division 395 as a Platoon Leader. Since then, he has been assigned to many units, holding many different positions. In September 2024, he was assigned to the position of Captain of Vinh Thuc Island Company.

He shared: “The unit is stationed in a remote area near the border and islands, where the people’s economic conditions are still difficult. The climate and weather here change erratically, with a large difference in temperature between day and night. During my work, I also encountered many difficulties. However, I always worry and think about how to turn difficulties into motivation for myself and my teammates to excellently complete the assigned tasks.”

As the “leading force”, he is always active and proactive in finding the most optimal solutions to build the unit and carry out all tasks effectively. To do a good job of grasping, managing the ideology and managing the troops, he proposed unification within the Party Committee and Company Command to deploy and maintain effective implementation of the “3 together” cadres (eating, living, and working with the troops) and “4 knowing” (knowing the Troop Management Regulations, directives, regulations, plans, and instructions from superiors; knowing the unit’s and his own tasks; knowing the thoughts, feelings, and ideological developments of the troops; knowing how to handle when ideological and disciplinary situations arise).

Along with that, we regularly pay attention to ensuring good material and spiritual life, regimes and standards for officers and soldiers; well organize recreational activities during breaks and holidays, creating a joyful, exciting and united atmosphere in the unit. Thanks to that, the work of ideological management, building discipline, and training discipline in the unit has many positive changes, 100% of officers and soldiers are assured in their work, and have good determination of tasks; there are no cases of violations of laws, discipline and regulations that need to be handled.

He regularly self-disciplines and strictly implements directives, resolutions, and orders from all levels regarding training and combat readiness. In particular, he regularly studies and researches to create many initiatives and improvements that contribute to improving the quality of training, such as "Night target shooting equipment", "Night sight line inspection equipment", which are recognized by the unit and applied to actual training work.

In 2024, the Party Committee and the Company Commander coordinated with local authorities and forces to effectively respond to storm No. 3 ( Yagi ), helping people prevent and fight against storms, and overcome the consequences of storms; preparing food, accommodation, and means to evacuate households in dangerous areas to avoid and take shelter from storms at the unit's barracks, ensuring absolute safety; participating in extinguishing forest fires in the commune many times. The unit was highly appreciated by local authorities at all levels and awarded many certificates of merit. In 2024, the unit was awarded the title "Determined to Win Unit" by the Military Region 3 Command.
