The previous record was set by a group of 724 participants in Dallas, USA, on October 31, 2016.

1,668 students aged 12 to 67 participated in a programming class at the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
"The total number of students was calculated based on the number of people present, and the programming class attracted 1,668 participants," said Guinness World Records assessor Paulina Sapinska.
The organizers sought to draw greater international attention to Portugal as a growing information technology hub.
IST Dean Rogerio Colaco says that computer literacy today is like it was 100 years ago, meaning "everyone needs to know a little bit about computer science , about programming, to live in the current world."
