Ensuring absolute safety for cruises visiting Ha Long Bay

Possessing outstanding global values, along with many domestic and international titles, Ha Long Bay is identified as the driving force and unique competitive advantage of Quang Ninh , playing a particularly important role in the socio-economic development strategy, especially the policy of sustainable and inclusive tourism development on the basis of green growth of the province.

According to statistics from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the demand for visitors to the bay has increased steadily over the years, usually accounting for about 20% of the total number of visitors to the province. To welcome the 2025 summer tourist season, exploit and effectively promote the outstanding advantages and potentials of the Bay, Quang Ninh has introduced many new products to increase attractiveness and sustainability; forming and developing highly competitive service products, targeting the high-end market segment... At the same time, the quality of services of the fleet of ships taking visitors to the bay has been constantly improved with a tightened safety coefficient; management work has been innovated; spirit, responsibility, and service attitude have been standardized.

Currently, there are about 500 licensed tourist boats operating in Ha Long Bay, of which nearly 200 are overnight boats. With the goal of bringing the most satisfaction to tourists, especially the organization of welcoming tourists during the peak summer tourist season, the Department of Construction has developed a plan and organized interdisciplinary teams to conduct a general review of all vehicles, degrees, and professional certificates of captains and crew members, especially newly recruited crew members with little experience. In addition, coordinate with competent agencies to organize fire prevention and rescue drills at sea; enhance skills in handling fire and explosion incidents; promote training, propaganda, and dissemination of regulations in inland waterway transport activities, port regulations and other regulations...

The Inland Port Authority has also conducted a comprehensive inspection of vehicle safety from equipment, service quality associated with environmental protection in Ha Long Bay; effectively operated monitoring activities through GPS navigation devices that are mandatory installed on vehicles. This system allows authorities to grasp parameters on time, location, speed... of ships in operation. The Port Authority has also agreed and included in the operating regulations for each part of the work, assigning responsibilities to port owners, ship owners, captains, and crew members; publicly posted hotline numbers for visitors to directly report to the authorities...

International tourists visit Ha Long Bay.

Mr. Nguyen Phi Cuong, Chief Representative of the Inland Waterways Port Authority in Tuan Chau said: Along with the value of the landscape, safety work is always the brand that makes Ha Long Bay attractive to tourists. It is forecasted that this summer tourist season, the number of visitors to the bay will increase sharply. Therefore, with the function of state management of inland waterways, the Port Authority has organized meetings to thoroughly inform vehicle owners, captains, and crew members about the necessary conditions in organizing to welcome tourists. Up to now, most of the tourist boats operating to bring visitors to the bay have ensured and met safety work well.

To effectively control safety, the Inland Port Authority has maintained its personnel, closely followed plans, and regularly organized night patrols and controls at ports, wharves, and ship anchorages, ensuring that businesses and ship owners always strictly comply with the cutting and assigning of people to be on duty and on duty to promptly handle unusual weather situations such as storms, tornadoes, or fires; ensure the safety of vehicles when anchored without passengers; resolutely handle violations and suspend vehicle licenses when safety factors are not guaranteed.

In 2025, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 20 million tourists, contributing to the province's growth target of 14%. Therefore, with the initiative and implementation of important solutions to improve the capacity, quality and safety of welcoming visitors to the bay by agencies and units, it will contribute to creating peace of mind and trust for tourists in each journey to visit Ha Long Bay.
