Implementing Plan No. 45/KH-BCDLNATTP dated April 10, 2025 of the Quang Ninh Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety on the implementation of the "Month of Action for Food Safety" in 2025, the Departments of Industry and Trade, Health, Agriculture and Environment as leaders have established 3 inter-sectoral inspection teams on food safety and hygiene to conduct inspections in localities to assess the current situation and promptly handle violations.
From April 21-25, 2025, the Interdisciplinary Food Safety Inspection Team No. 2, led by the Department of Industry and Trade, inspected the following localities: Mong Cai, Hai Ha, Dam Ha, Tien Yen, Binh Lieu. In the localities, the Interdisciplinary Food Safety Inspection Team No. 2 conducted surprise inspections at a number of food processing establishments, restaurants, businesses, markets, food production and processing establishments, etc. Through the inspection, the team discovered a number of limitations in ensuring food safety at the establishments such as: Not ensuring product preservation conditions; not replacing expired labels; not following the correct food sample storage time; Some items were sold without invoices or documents... The inspection team requested the establishments to quickly correct the existing problems, limit and carefully check the products before putting them on the market to ensure safety for consumers, especially during the time starting from the April 30-May 1 holiday and the peak of the tourist season.
Mr. Cam Duc Quan, Deputy Head of Trade Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade said: Implementing food safety control according to plan, especially during holidays and peak tourist season, the Department will continue to coordinate with functional agencies to strengthen control of food safety implementation at establishments. Directing the Market Management force to continue to strengthen market control, especially for trading activities of counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, price listing... The viewpoint of the functional agencies is to inspect, control, comply with regulations and strictly handle violations to increase deterrence and create trust among people and tourists.
With the characteristics of a province with rapid urbanization and strong development of industry, tourism and services, Quang Ninh always faces many challenges in food safety management. From that reality, the province has proactively issued many directive documents and specific action plans to effectively control food safety incidents, especially during peak periods such as Lunar New Year, festivals, and summer tourist season. Right from the beginning of the year, the province has directed relevant departments and branches to develop and implement a plan to ensure food safety during Lunar New Year and spring festivals, establish many interdisciplinary inspection teams, organize surprise supervision at wholesale markets, food processing and trading establishments, collective kitchens, restaurants and hotels, etc.
Along with that, the province also focuses on strengthening food control right from the initial production stage. In particular, it promotes the implementation of safe agricultural and aquatic product supply chains, encourages people and businesses to participate in production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, HACCP standards...; applies technology and digital transformation in inspection, supervision and propaganda; applies software to manage product traceability, updates transparent information to consumers; strictly handles violations in the field of food safety...
To date, the province has more than 150 certified safe agricultural, forestry and fishery production and farming establishments; more than 300 establishments have their food supply chains controlled. Localities such as Dong Trieu, Quang Yen, Hai Ha, Co To... have formed many models of clean vegetable production, clean seafood, closed livestock farming, with traceable origins using QR codes, helping consumers easily identify and choose safe products; wholesale markets, supermarkets, and commercial centers in the province are increasingly improving the process of receiving and preserving goods...
Quang Ninh province aims to ensure that by 2030, 100% of food consumed in the province is controlled in terms of origin and quality, 100% of food production facilities are managed safely and all people have basic knowledge of food hygiene... To realize this goal, the province is continuing to perfect the food safety management system in a modern and professional direction, associated with the strategy of developing sustainable agriculture, green tourism and smart cities; focusing on investing in monitoring infrastructure, quality testing rooms; supporting businesses to convert to advanced production models...
