Losing 1-3 to the defending champion in the key match of the group stage a few days ago, Kazakhstan did not hide its determination to repay the old debt when meeting the Vietnamese team again in the final match on the evening of May 29.
The Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, Philippines, was full for the pinnacle of regional volleyball.
Kazakhstan launched a surprise attack
The final match was therefore not easy for the Vietnamese team.
Just like when the two sides met before, Kazakhstan took advantage of direct serves to score points along with an extremely "huge" blocking team that always consisted of 2-3 players with a height of 1.80 m or more to make things difficult for the opponent.
Vietnamese fans worried about their team's lackluster start
Faced with a huge challenge from a European-sized team like Kazakhstan, the Vietnamese team still knows how to resolve it.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet instructed his players to use fast attacks combined with extremely effective blocking attacks by Bich Tuyen, the best attacking player in this tournament.
Kazakhstan took the lead in the first set but were caught up at 6-6. They were left chasing in vain and lost 20-25.
The situation seemed to improve for coach Rishat Gyliautdinov's team in the second set, but when caught up at 15-15, the Central Asian team fell behind and continued to lose at 22-25.
Tu Linh is effective with attacks on the opponent's shield.
The simple and unvaried style of play, especially that of setter Irina Kuznetsova, made it impossible for Kazakhstan to maintain the game. They kept taking the lead and then were caught up at decisive moments.
Coach Rishat Gyliautdinov's students led the third game to 20-20, then continued to run out of steam, losing with a score of 22-25.
Le Thanh Thuy and Kieu Trinh blocked Kazakhstan's attack.
Without a terrible "revenge" as the warning sent to the Vietnamese team before the match, nor even a consolation game like when the two sides met in the group stage, Kazakhstan had to accept a "convincing" 0-3 defeat in the final match, receiving the runner-up position after the Vietnamese team.
Bich Tuyen's unstoppable attack
The journey to defend the title of Queen of Vietnam team was like a bed of roses when they won all 6 matches, defeating all the strongest opponents, including Kazakhstan ranked 8 places above them.
Snail Nguyen Khanh Dang was awarded "Best Libero"
Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen has excellently shouldered the task of scoring points for the team this time, replacing captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy who did not play a single minute due to not fully recovering from injury.
The setter from Vinh Long scored a total of 122 points in 6 matches, contributing greatly to her team's achievements while she herself also won the title of "Best Player of the Tournament".
Vietnam team excellently defends the title
The biggest reward for the Vietnamese team in successfully defending the AVC Challenge Cup championship is receiving a ticket to attend the FIVB Challenger Cup for the second consecutive year, which will also take place in the Philippines this coming July.
Along with Bich Tuyen's MVP title, Le Thanh Thuy was also awarded the "Best Middle Blocker" title while Nguyen Khanh Dang was awarded the "Best Libero" award.
