Attending the workshop were leaders of the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Yen Mo district; representatives of organizations, unions of Yen Lam commune and farmers participating in the project.
Through visiting and evaluating the L29 peanut growing area in the Bac Yen Cooperative's fields (Yen Lam commune), initial results show that peanuts are suitable for the soil, grow and develop well, have hard stems, and are susceptible to few pests and diseases.
With a scale of 10 hectares of L29 peanuts grown by 80 households, from planting, caring to harvesting is about 120 days. Up to now, winter-spring peanuts are about to be harvested, the peanuts are firm, plump, large peanut kernels, high oil content, the expected yield is estimated at 3.8 to 4 tons/ha, much higher than previous peanut varieties grown on the same land from 0.3 to 0.5 tons/ha.
Thus, with preliminary calculations, 1 hectare of L29 peanuts brings an estimated economic value of 110-115 million VND/ha, excluding expenses, the estimated profit is 90 million VND/ha.
Based on the results achieved, the Project Management Board continues to coordinate with the locality to monitor and evaluate productivity and output as a basis for further replication of the models to neighboring communes. Thereby replacing old, ineffective peanut varieties, increasing the value of cultivation per unit of land area.
From January 2023 to July 2025, the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants will coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology, sectors and localities in the province to implement the project "Research on experimental production of varieties and intensive cultivation of peanut L29 to increase income per unit area of cultivated land in Ninh Binh province". |
