Assessment of learning capacity in 2025: Students can confidently take the exam with the knowledge they have learned in the main curriculum

Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), affirmed that the 2025 independent competency assessment test (SPT) has many outstanding new features, while emphasizing that candidates do not need to study separately.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training noted two highlights of the 2025 SPT exam: Hanoi National University of Education designed the exam to closely follow the 2018 General Education Program, positively impacting the teaching and learning process in high school; students do not need to review separately but can still confidently take the exam with the knowledge learned in the main curriculum; the SPT exam is organized by subject, in accordance with the orientation of studying and testing by subject.

In the coming time, the design of exam questions, grading and returning of scores should be "regressive for each subject", in order to create more favorable conditions for partner schools to use exam results for admission in flexible ways, suitable for the specific training goals of each unit.

According to the report of Hanoi National University of Education, up to now, the University has completed the data sharing system, providing separate access accounts for each school, ensuring publicity, transparency, and confidentiality in searching, statistics, and admissions. Schools can monitor candidate records in real time, access SPT test results data and converted scores for internal admissions.

Pursuant to the 2025 University Admission Regulations, the Admissions Council of Hanoi National University of Education will send the SPT exam results (scores of each test) and admission scores on a 30-point scale for all subject combinations that candidates have registered for, to partner schools. In which, the candidate's original score is the total score of the SPT subjects in the admission combination, which will be converted to a 3-point score on a 30-point scale, based on data compared with the national high school graduation exam scores and the learning results of previous admission courses.

The score conversion follows three principles: Based on the correlation of comparing the test score data of the corresponding combination between the two SPT and High School Graduation exams; not changing the ranking order according to SPT between candidates; taking into account the correlation of learning results of students who were admitted by the two methods of SPT and High School Graduation exams in previous years.

The Admissions Council of Hanoi National University of Education will establish a continuous, monotonous score conversion function based on the benchmark scores that have been statistically compared between the two exams. After the high school graduation exam scores are available, the University will announce the corresponding admission benchmark scores according to each method, in which the benchmark score according to SPT is determined based on the original score corresponding to the lowest optimal admission score of the industry.

Up to now, there are more than 24universities nationwide that have officially recognized the results of the SPT exam in admission, including: Hanoi National University of Education; Hanoi National University of Education 2; Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; Thai Nguyen University of Education; Hue University of Education; Da Nang University of Education; Quy Nhon University; Vinh University; Vinh University of Technical Education; Hanoi University of Construction; Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Academy of Educational Management; Vietnam Women's Academy; Ethnic Academy; Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports; Tay Bac University; Hai Phong University; Ha Long University; Hoa Lu University; Hong Duc University; Tay Nguyen University; Thu Dau Mot University; Nam Dinh University of Technical Education; Thang Long University.
