After 8 years of suspension, Vietnam decided to restart the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, with plants 1 and 2, located in Phuoc Hai and Vinh Hai communes, respectively. The first plant is expected to operate (generate electricity) in 2030, at the latest by the end of 2031.

It is expected that Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant will need about 1,920 people, including 1,020 engineers and bachelors; 900 people with college degrees. Ninh Thuan 2 plant will need about 1,980 people, including 1,050 people with university and postgraduate degrees and 930 people with college degrees.

The project aims to provide short-term training and internships for about 700 officials and experts in the field of nuclear power by 2030 and update knowledge for about 450 lecturers and researchers. At the same time, it will train about 120 specialized lecturers (including 80 masters and 40 doctors) to serve the human resource training for Ninh Thuan 1 and 2 nuclear power plants.

In the 2031-2035 period, we will train and develop more human resources to meet the actual needs of nuclear power plants with solutions such as perfecting policies, training human resources, investing in facilities, improving staff, updating training programs and promoting international cooperation.
