Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, emphasized: Nguyen Dinh Thi left behind a huge cultural heritage with works of multifaceted value that will live forever. “The success of his works is evident in their ideology, humanity, unique art, and liberal yet refined writing style. There, patriotism is blended with revolutionary ideals, national character and modernity, absorbing the quintessence of world culture, especially French, Russian, and European culture, the desire for freedom, and the kind, gentle nature of Vietnam. In the country, Nguyen Dinh Thi's works have become an indispensable part of cultural life, literature, education, and training. Some of his poetry, literature, drama, and music are taught in schools, from primary to university, in cultural activities in the countryside to the city, and are loved by many people,” Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky emphasized.
Nguyen Dinh Thi left his mark on many areas of literature and art. He had many discoveries and breakthroughs in the prose genre, especially novels, contributing to opening up the epic trend in modern Vietnamese literature. He was also a poet, a screenwriter, a music composer with many innovations in thinking and artistic innovation. Prose works such as "Xung kich", "Thu Dong nam nay", "Ben bo song Lo", "Vo lua", "Mat tran tren cao" ... are truly typical examples of the artist's creative concept and civic consciousness. In particular, the two-volume novel "Vo bo" brought Nguyen Dinh Thi to the pioneering position of the heroic and romantic epic novel genre of our country's literature in the period 1946-1985.
In the poetry genre, his immortal works such as "Country", "Remembering", "Black Sea Poem", "Red Leaves"... are vivid evidence of his love and deep attachment to the country and the Vietnamese people "hard-working, sorrowful and infinitely beautiful", "shake off the mud and stand up shining"... On the stage, the unexpected appearance of the scripts "Black Deer" (1961), "Flowers and Ngan" (1974), "Dream" (1977), "Bamboo Forest" (1978), "Nguyen Trai in Dong Quan" (1979), "Petrified Woman" (1980), "Sound of Waves" (1980), "Shadow on the Wall" (1982), "Truong Chi" (1983), "Pebble" (1986)... in which, the rather turbulent fate of "Black Deer", "Bamboo Forest", "Nguyen Trai in Dong Quan", “The Shadow on the Wall”, “The Pebble”… all exude the artistic spirit, talent and creativity, always finding new ways, Nguyen Dinh Thi's own way.
