The right branch of the longest road tunnel on the North-South Expressway was dug using the NATM tunneling method of the Deo Ca system on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, making the construction site even more joyful.
Opening the longest tunnel on the North-South expressway on April 30 has great significance
Mr. Ho Minh Hoang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Deo Ca Group (contractor), acknowledged and praised the spirit of perseverance and efforts to overcome difficulties of the engineers and workers at the construction site.
The Executive Board has actively coordinated with Project Management Board 2 (investor) and local authorities to promote and gradually resolve difficulties.
The tunnel opening on April 30 is of great significance, demonstrating the solidarity of the entire team. This is an important premise for the entire Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway to reach the finish line by the end of this year in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction, Mr. Hoang emphasized.
For the left tunnel branch of tunnel No. 3, it is expected to be dug in June, the concrete shell of the two tunnel tubes will be completed in October and equipment installation will be completed by the end of December.
At the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project, the construction site is still operating continuously, including the April 30 holiday to maximize time.
Currently, 50 construction teams are being deployed at the construction site, mobilizing about 3,500 officers and workers, 1,430 pieces of machinery and equipment, taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up progress.
Up to now, the construction output of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has reached about 8,200 billion VND, equivalent to 62% of the total project volume.

Overcoming difficulties, accelerating the project
During the construction of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, despite many difficulties and challenges in terms of site, material mines and weak geology, and continuous rainy weather, the Deo Ca contractor has researched and changed the construction plan appropriately to ensure progress.
Regarding the road, the crushed stone construction has reached about 40%, and more than 10km of asphalt has been paved. According to the plan, the crushed stone construction will be completed in September, and the asphalt concrete construction will be completed in October.
Regarding bridges, there are 77 bridges on the route, all of which have basically completed drilling bored piles and piers, 69 bridges are installing girders and constructing bridge decks. Of which, some large bridges on the route such as Song Ve bridge, overpass of provincial road 624C have been completed.
Regarding the tunnel category, up to now, tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 have completed the construction part, the units are urgently installing electromechanical equipment (jet fans, lighting, monitoring sensors...), intelligent traffic control system (ITS)...

To ensure the entire project route is completed by the end of 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister , the contractor will organize construction in three shifts and four teams. For the tunnel section alone, engineers and workers will take turns working 24/7 without rest, including holidays.

The North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, has a total investment of over VND 20,400 billion (of which the construction value is nearly VND 14,500 billion), with a length of 88km (60.3km through Quang Ngai, 27.7km through Binh Dinh). This is the largest project among the 12 North-South Expressway component projects.
There are three tunnels on the route, including: Tunnel No. 1 is 610m long, Tunnel No. 2 is 698m long and Tunnel No. 3 is 3,200m long (the longest on the North-South Expressway); along with 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 underpasses for people.
