On the morning of October 16, a representative of Box Office Vietnam - an independent box office monitoring unit - announced that the film Dat Rung Phuong Nam earned 43 billion VND last week with a good theater occupancy rate.

In the 3 days of early screening, Southern Forest Land attracted more than 454,000 moviegoers, with 11,114 screenings. Adding the figures up to the morning of October 16, the film's total revenue reached 45.4 billion VND.
"Next week, there will be no outstanding movie titles in theaters. It is expected that Dat Rung Phuong Nam will continue to maintain its top position," a representative of Box Office Vietnam predicted.
Box Office Vietnam also believes that Dat Rung Phuong Nam will have difficulty breaking the revenue records of Nha Ba Nu or Bo Gia (the two films leading revenue records in the history of Vietnamese films), but is still a promising name on the big screen this year.
Previously, Mrs. Nu's House reached 100 billion VND after 3 days of early screening, while Bo Gia was 63 billion VND.

After 3 days of early screening, Dat rung phuong nam has faced controversy for containing "historical inaccuracies" in the Southern region in the early 20th century. Many viewers complained that director Quang Dung and the production crew caused misunderstandings by "elevating the role of Thien Dia hoi".
On the afternoon of October 15, sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh - Director of the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) - said that after receiving opinions about the film Dat Rung Phuong Nam , the Department listened and took note.
Accordingly, the functional unit has re-evaluated the film, invited the producer and film crew to dialogue and discuss some related content.
According to Mr. Thanh, the producer will remove the names and lines related to "Thien Dia Hoi" and "Nghi Hoa Doan" and replace them with other names unrelated to foreign groups. This change is to avoid association with groups from the Qing Dynasty (China).
The film's producer said the dialogue in the film will change from "Boxer Society" to "Southern Boxer Society" and "Heaven and Earth Society" to "Righteous Society".
In addition, the producer adjusted the line: "The film is inspired by the novel Southern Forest Land by writer Doan Gioi" at the beginning of the film to clarify the filmmaker's intention of changing the timeline in the literary work, following more closely the TV series that has left an impression on the audience.

Southern Forest Land is a film version inherited and developed from the novel of the same name by writer Doan Gioi. The film tells the adventure journey of An - a boy who unfortunately lost his mother on the way to find his father.
In an interview with the media on October 11, when referring to opinions that Southern Forest Land is not purely Vietnamese, director Nguyen Quang Dung said: "Actually, I have also seen many documentary photos of the actual historical period.
Note that this film has changed the setting and time frame from the novel. The novel is set around 1945. We kept the spirit of the TV version, taking the time frame before 1930.
From there, An's journey went through many environments, met many cultural communities, and encountered conflicts with many groups.
What's important is that the film carries a message about human emotions. That is, in every Vietnamese person, everyone loves their country, but in different ways."
