'Southern Forest Land' competes for Golden Lotus Award at 23rd Vietnam Film Festival

The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Lam Dong province, will take place from November 21-25 in Da Lat with the theme of Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modernity and humanity.

The Vietnam Film Festival is a large-scale film event, held every two years, to summarize and honor new film works and artists with outstanding artistic achievements from the previous film festival to this one.

Accordingly, the 16 competing films include: 578: The Madman's Bullet, 9, The Girl from the Past, The Chong Picking Con Nhót, Dao, Pho and Piano, You and Trinh, Fanti, Jasmine, Hong Ha Lady, Anonymous, Mom, Butterfly Day, Ten: The Curse Returns, The Last Wife, Mrs. Nu's House, Glorious Ashes . In particular, the film Dat Rung Phuong Nam by director Nguyen Quang Dung, which is currently showing in theaters and has created a lot of controversy in public opinion about historical details, costumes, etc., is also competing at this year's Vietnam Film Festival.

As of late afternoon on October 28, Dat rung phuong nam had earned 116 billion VND. The film has now reduced its screenings to a total of 2,600 screenings per day in all theaters nationwide (previously there were over 6,000 screenings per day).

From these 16 films, the Jury will select official nominees for the film and individual award categories, such as Golden Lotus, Silver Lotus, Best Cinematography and Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Designer, Best Music, Best Sound...

16 films shown in the Contemporary Vietnamese Film Panorama program (not included in the competition films) include: Very Good Squad, Touching Happiness, Ghost Stories Near Home, Crossroads 8675, Bloody Happiness, When We Are Twenty-Five, Memento Mori: Land, Super Easy Job, House Not For Sale, Exposure, Burning Phoenix, Super Cheating Meets Super Muddy, Rose Squad, Ghost Children.

There will be an award for the Most Favorite Film voted by the audience for the feature film participating in the Contemporary Vietnamese Film Panorama program. The films participating in the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival will be screened at the cinema system in Da Lat city and Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province.

In addition to feature films, the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival also received 82 documentaries, 23 scientific films and 43 animated films to compete. The opening ceremony, closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Lam Dong Provincial Radio and Television Station.
