On October 28, at Oxford University (UK), Tam Anh Research Institute under Tam Anh General Hospital and Oxford University announced a cooperation contract on training, research, and innovation in healthcare .
The event took place during General Secretary To Lam 's policy talk with the high-ranking intellectual community of the UK and Vietnam, within the framework of the General Secretary's State visit to the UK.
Based on the fact that Vietnam still needs more centers for research and development of drugs, vaccines and modern medical technologies, to be ready to meet the needs of disease prevention, treatment and health care, in the context of many epidemic risks and the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, etc., Tam Anh Research Institute and Oxford University have worked urgently and seriously to sign an official cooperation contract.

Specialist Doctor I Phuong Le Tri, Executive Director of Tam Anh Research Institute, said that in order to reach an official and specific cooperation agreement with the world's leading prestigious university like Oxford, Tam Anh had to prepare solid foundational conditions such as a modern, large-scale infrastructure system, a systematic working process, and systematic scientific research; especially a team of qualified personnel to work with professors and experts from Oxford in many fields.
The two sides also proposed specific action programs in priority areas: Training and improving research capacity for clinical doctors of the system; implementing highly applicable research topics in Vietnam. The research results will be applied to medical examination and treatment practices in Vietnam and contribute more valuable information to medicine. At the same time, Tam Anh and Oxford will jointly sponsor, jointly implement and jointly publish international scientific publications.
In the first phase, the two sides will organize training courses to improve scientific research capacity, medical data management, medical research and development topics, and exchange experts. Carry out joint research projects, publish internationally every year, enhance the position of Vietnam's medical research; and train high-quality human resources for Vietnam's healthcare sector.
It is expected that in December 2025, the Tam Anh Research Institute and Oxford University will organize the first three intensive training courses for scientists and health managers in Vietnam. The program will be taught and guided directly by professors and scientists from Oxford University.
The training content focuses on improving management capacity, helping medical researchers and managers in Vietnam access international standard scientific research methods as well as the world's leading modern data analysis systems.

The two sides will jointly research new solutions and applications to improve medical examination and treatment capacity; especially diseases that are global challenges such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke. These are also diseases that are rapidly increasing in Vietnam.
Associate Professor Proochista Ariana, Oxford University Council Member for International Development and founder of the Master of Global Public Health Programme, said: "Oxford University highly values this partnership and the opportunity to learn from our Vietnamese colleagues. We aim to build a culture and research capacity, generate scientific evidence to support policy making and improve the health of the Vietnamese people."
Previously, in January 2025, Tam Anh Research Institute also signed an MOU with the Center for Global Health Research, Nuffield Faculty of Medicine - Oxford University, International Health and Tropical Medicine Group.
