Expressing his delight at being assigned to Vietnam, Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Qatar in the Asia-Pacific region and pledged to do his utmost to contribute to consolidating and further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel outlined many major orientations that he will implement during his term to realize those commitments.

Affirming that although the bilateral cooperation results are positive, they are still not commensurate with the good political relations and potential between the two countries, Minister Bui Thanh Son and Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel discussed and agreed on a number of specific measures to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, such as increasing the exchange of high-level delegations, prioritizing good preparation for the visit to Vietnam of the Emir of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Thani in the fourth quarter of 2023; further strengthening trade promotion activities, connecting businesses of both sides; attracting Qatari investment funds to participate in oil and gas projects, renewable energy, infrastructure, electric cars in Vietnam, etc.; studying the possibility of cooperation in agricultural projects and in the Halal field, increasing the attraction of tourists and highly skilled workers.
