Promote the benefits of examination and treatment with Oriental medicine

DTO - This is the direction of comrade Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council at the Conference summarizing 15 years of implementing Directive No. 24-CT/TW dated July 4, 2008 of the Central Party Secretariat on the development of Vietnamese Oriental Medicine and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association in the new situation (abbreviated as Directive No. 24), on the afternoon of September 19.

Also attending the conference were representatives of the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, the Fatherland Front Committee and socio- political organizations of the province; district and city Party Committees, Party Committees directly under the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committees of districts and cities.

Implementing Directive No. 24, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued many documents directing and directing Party committees at all levels to invest in equipment and improve the quality of examination and treatment using Oriental medicine in the province. Local Party committees and units led and directed the implementation and dissemination of Directive No. 24, documents related to cadres, party members and people; directed the strengthening of examination and treatment using Oriental medicine to contribute to protecting and taking care of people's health. Up to now, the network of examination and treatment using traditional medicine has been deployed in hospitals, medical centers and health stations. The whole province currently has 2 Traditional Medicine Clinics under the Provincial Red Cross Society and 8 Traditional Medicine Clinics under the District and City Red Cross Society; 149 traditional medicine clinics and clinics and 90 establishments selling medicinal herbs and traditional medicines. Over the past 15 years, there have been over 7.5 million patients coming for examination and treatment using Oriental medicine and over 25 million prescriptions; over 4.9 million patients have undergone traditional medicine treatments without using drugs...

At the conference, representatives of the City Party Committee, District Party Committee, and Provincial Red Cross Society informed about the results of leadership and direction in the development of Oriental Medicine, the Oriental Medicine Association, and the management of examination and treatment using traditional medicine in the locality. At the same time, they recommended that the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee continue to pay attention to investing in facilities, equipment, and medical supplies for Oriental medicine examination and treatment facilities; have a mechanism to support and encourage research activities on traditional medicine and training for physicians working at health stations; and provide financial support for planting, caring for, and preserving medicinal herbs to serve Oriental medicine examination and treatment for people.

Concluding the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Phan Van Thang requested local Party committees and units to continue to lead and direct the effective implementation of Directive No. 24, directive documents of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, and plans of the Provincial People's Committee on the development of traditional medicine in the province. Focus on investing in facilities and equipment of traditional medicine at provincial and district hospitals and commune-level health stations; pay attention to training knowledge and expertise for doctors and physicians of traditional medicine to improve the quality of examination and treatment. Promote the dissemination of the benefits of examination and treatment with Oriental medicine; encourage research, inheritance, preservation and development of traditional medicine, combining Oriental medicine with Western medicine in people's health care. Along with that, strengthen the work of inspection, supervision, management, ensuring that traditional medicine and pharmacy establishments operate in accordance with legal regulations; Timely commend, reward and replicate good models and effective methods in developing Oriental medicine in the province.
