Promoting the application of science and technology in agriculture and environment

At Dong Nai bridge, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang chaired the conference.

At the morning plenary session, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy said that science, technology and digital transformation are the foundation for creating breakthroughs for the agricultural and environmental sectors in the new era.

In the context of the agricultural and environmental sectors being under great pressure from climate change, resource depletion, environmental pollution and water security, science and technology and digital transformation are even more needed. Traditional agricultural production models based on manual labor, high input costs and low added value are no longer suitable. Instead, there is a trend towards circular agriculture, multi-value agriculture, green transformation and digital transformation.

In recent times, the agricultural and environmental sectors have made many strides in applying science and technology and digital transformation from high-tech agricultural models, smart livestock farming to automatic environmental monitoring, digitizing land, forest and meteorological data. However, to meet the requirements of breakthrough development as in the spirit of Resolution 57, the sector still has much to do.

At the conference, delegates, experts, scientists, businesses, and local leaders heard presentations on the current situation and solutions for science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; and the orientation of the National Assembly and the Government for this field.

At the same time, the conference focused on discussing groups of issues: perfecting institutions, policies and reforming administrative procedures to remove bottlenecks and unblock the flow of innovation in both the public and private sectors; identifying and focusing on science and technology fields with great potential; reorganizing the system of public science and technology organizations towards streamlining, efficiency, competitiveness and spreading knowledge to the market; developing high-quality human resources in the fields of science and technology and digital transformation, closely linking training, research and practical application...

Minister Do Duc Duy hopes that the conference will be a positive first step, promoting the process of realizing major orientations in Resolution No. 57 into the practice of the agricultural and environmental sectors.

Within the framework of the conference, this afternoon there will be 4 thematic sessions: Cultivation - plant protection - forestry; Animal husbandry - veterinary - aquaculture; Environment - water resources; Irrigation - natural disaster prevention and control - climate change.
