Recently, the Phu Loc District Farmers' Association established clubs titled "Farmers Producing, Processing, Trading, and Consuming Clean Products" in several localities. These clubs have diverse activities, notably focusing on food safety and hygiene, sharing experiences in safe farming and livestock production models; and encouraging farmers to sign commitments regarding the production, processing, and use of safe agricultural products, rejecting practices like raising vegetables in two separate plots or pigs in two separate pens.
According to Nguyen Thai Ha, Vice Chairman of the Phu Loc Farmers' Association, the club regularly provides information on the harmful effects of the overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in crop cultivation and the use of banned substances in livestock, poultry, and aquaculture on consumer health and the environment. With this model, Phu Loc is a dynamic locality in implementing the movement "Farmers producing, trading, and consuming quality and safe agricultural products and food" in the city.
In Loc Vinh commune, Xuan Anh seafood processing facility is one of the well-known brands, always prioritizing food safety and hygiene. The owner is Ms. Vo Thi Nhung Xuan, a farmer who is passionate about traditional fish sauce making. To ensure product quality, Ms. Xuan selects fresh fish from near-shore fishing boats and does not use preservatives. The production process adheres to traditional methods, from salting and fermentation to fish sauce extraction, all carried out carefully and meticulously. As a result, Xuan Anh's fish sauce products have a rich flavor, natural color, and guaranteed food safety and hygiene.
Ms. Xuan's facility is one of the largest and most reputable seafood processing facilities in Phu Loc district. Twelve of its products have been registered as trademarks, and all products are free of preservatives, ensuring consumer health. Not only are they sold locally, but Ms. Xuan Anh's products have also reached other provinces and cities. With a sense of community responsibility, Ms. Xuan has contributed to preserving and developing the traditional fish sauce making craft, providing high-quality and safe products for consumers.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Ha stated: The Phu Loc District Farmers' Association has established a store to introduce and promote the consumption of Phu Loc district's products, regularly displaying dozens of key products from its farmer members, including typical local products such as Loc Thuy melaleuca essential oil, Loc Binh fish sauce, seasonal vegetables, fruits, and many other specialties and seafood... The Gynostemma pentaphyllum product from the Loc Hoa Commune Farmers' Association, a new product, is very popular with customers. This is the first model supporting farmers in building and establishing a product consumption facility with the criteria of a safe agricultural product store.
The model of a store showcasing and linking the consumption of agricultural products in Phu Loc district is considered a highlight in the activities of the Farmers' Association and the movement of farmers producing, trading, and consuming quality, safe agricultural products and food. Based on the effective operation of this store, the Phu Loc District Farmers' Association continues to coordinate with relevant departments and organizations in the area to open another similar store in Lang Co town, aiming to introduce typical specialty products to serve tourism .
According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Ha, the association also actively promotes and guides farmers, small food businesses, and families as members to register and commit to producing and trading safe food. To date, over 8,000 households have registered and received certification for producing and trading safe agricultural and food products, creating momentum for the sustainable development of the locality.
