On December 26, Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) coordinated with the Institute of Economics , under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to organize a scientific workshop "Promoting green economy, digital economy, heritage economy of Ha Long City in the era of national growth".

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of the Ha Long City Party Committee Vu Quyet Tien affirmed that the transition to green economy, digital transformation, and heritage economy is becoming an inevitable and objective trend and the goal of many countries and localities around the world to develop economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and ensure social safety and equity.

Along with promoting local cultural heritages, Ha Long Bay heritage plays a very important role in the green growth strategy, is a driving force in tourism development associated with economical and efficient use of resources and conservation and promotion of heritage values.

In addition, with efforts to protect heritage, sea and island tourism products on Ha Long Bay have been built and developed by the city based on the outstanding global value of the heritage, exploited at the national and international levels.

"From only welcoming tens of thousands of visitors before being recognized as a heritage site, Ha Long Bay now welcomes millions of visitors each year, contributing to changing the economic structure of the province, bringing rapid development to the tourism and service industry, becoming a key economic sector, while bringing practical and sustainable benefits to the community and locality," said Mr. Vu Quyet Tien.

Not only that, the city has also implemented many solutions to strongly develop the heritage economy, create a breakthrough for the economy, enhance the value of local brands, gradually build Ha Long into a city of flowers and festivals, develop the Ha Long tourism ecosystem to become an attractive destination.

This scientific workshop aims to remove difficulties and obstacles, creating an important basis for the city to plan its development strategy in the new period, and at the same time consult, suggest, analyze and evaluate the opinions of experts, scientists and managers to help the city have strategic solutions to promote green economy, digital economy and heritage economy in the following years.

In order to promote the green economy, digital economy, and heritage economy of Ha Long city in the new era, besides the advantages, this locality also identified many difficulties and challenges such as: Challenges from climate change, depletion of natural resources; Existing impacts due to natural disasters, climate change, rapid urbanization increasing the risk of flooding...

Therefore, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien realized that, faced with the current challenges in preserving and developing Ha Long Bay heritage, it is necessary to have strong and drastic participation of the government, all levels, sectors and people in coordinating the management, preservation and effective promotion of the values ​​of Ha Long Bay heritage in a sustainable manner.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council, affirmed: "In the vision and socio-economic development strategy of Ha Long city, the city should place the cause of cultural development and promote the potential of the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay in the systematic relationship of hundreds of relics and scenic spots in the province.

Quang Ninh and Ha Long need to take people as the center of all development goals, culture as the fulcrum to arouse pride, love for the homeland and the aspiration to rise of Quang Ninh people, persist with the orientation of green development, circular economy, heritage economy, increase science content, apply high technology, use renewable energy, limit emissions, protect the environment".
