With a test time of 120 minutes, the math test was assessed by candidates to closely follow the sample test that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had announced for review purposes.
The math exam consists of 5 essay-based lessons, focusing on 3 streams of knowledge: numbers and algebra; geometry and measurement; statistics and probability.
With that design, the math exam for grade 10 in Hanoi this year aims to evaluate 3 parts of candidates' abilities including: mathematical thinking and reasoning (3 points); mathematical problem solving (4.5 points); mathematical modeling (2.5 points). The total maximum score for this essay is 10 points.
A major change in the way the 10th grade entrance exam scores are calculated this year is that along with literature, math will not be calculated with a coefficient of 2 as in many years past, but only a coefficient of 1 for all 3 subjects: literature, math, and foreign language. This is considered to ensure fairness for all subjects and exams in the generaleducation program.
