To make Vietnam a leading smart tourism destination on digital platforms

Enhancing Vietnam's image on smart tourism solutions and digital platforms helps meet the trend of independent tourism and sustainable development requirements.
In response to the growing tourism trend in Vietnam, Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading travel platform, has partnered with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to organize a workshop on “Smart Travel Solutions and Public-Private Strategic Partnerships - Enhancing Travel Experiences and Promoting Sustainable Tourism Development”. Representatives from VNAT, Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), Institute for Tourism Development Research and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi attended the workshop, and discussed the growing trend of independent travelers, while emphasizing the role of digital solutions, as well as public-private partnerships in promoting sustainable tourism in Vietnam.

The workshop highlighted common goals in strengthening tourism initiatives, especially through digital solutions in line with Vietnam’s long-term vision for sustainable tourism development. At the workshop, Traveloka also shared advanced technology solutions in line with this vision. “ Traveloka is committed to supporting Vietnam’s vision by leveraging technology and fostering strong public-private partnerships,” said Iko Putera, Head of Transportation at Traveloka. “ In line with Vietnam’s 2024 goal of attracting over 18 million international visitors and achieving VND840 trillion in revenue, we are building a sustainable travel ecosystem that empowers independent travelers to seamlessly plan, book, and enhance their experiences. They have reshaped the travel industry with their preference for online booking and sustainable options. Traveloka supports this shift with a user-friendly platform that simplifies planning and booking, enhancing the travel experience for both domestic and international travelers. Working closely with VNAT and local tourism agencies in popular destinations such as Da Nang, Kien Giang , and Hai Phong, Traveloka has launched the Vietnam Travel Checklist, a guide that includes top attractions, cultural information, and essential travel experiences tailored to each location. Promoting sustainable tourism Vietnam’s tourism industry is on a strong growth trajectory, with more than 12.7 million international arrivals in the first nine months of 2024, up 43% year-on-year. As the tourism industry thrives, the link between growth and the need for sustainable, environmentally conscious practices is becoming increasingly clear. By prioritizing sustainable practices and high service standards, Vietnam’s tourism industry can ensure it remains sustainable and competitive. Mr. Dinh Ngoc Duc, Head of International Relations, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasized the importance of cooperation between parties for tourism development. "Effective public-private partnerships not only benefit all parties but can also contribute to shaping a sustainable and innovative tourism future in Vietnam. We hope Traveloka will continue to promote this trend through promoting Vietnam's destinations, digital transformation, and enhanced communication efforts.
