Tax collection from e-commerce increased by more than 60%

According to statistics from the E-commerce Tax Department (Tax Department), tax revenue from organizations and individuals doing e-commerce business has increased steadily over the years. In the first 9 months of 2025, total tax revenue from e-commerce reached about 152,000 billion VND, an increase of 64%.

In recent times, the tax authorities have made efforts to deploy many solutions to effectively manage business activities on digital platforms and e-commerce. Thanks to timely solutions, tax revenue from e-commerce has continuously increased and become a bright spot in budget collection.

The tax authorities have achieved remarkable results in tax management for foreign suppliers. By the end of September, 176 foreign suppliers had registered, declared and paid taxes in Vietnam through the Foreign Suppliers Portal, including large technology corporations such as Meta, Google, Netflix, TikTok... Total revenue from this group reached 328 million USD, up 42% over the same period last year.

In particular, after more than two months of implementing Decree No. 117 stipulating that e-commerce platforms with payment functions perform declaration and payment on behalf of business households and individuals, 63 e-commerce platforms have participated. The total amount of tax paid on behalf of businesses reached 1.07 trillion VND in August - September 2025 alone.
