Instead of using familiar brands like XPS, Inspiron, and Latitude, the company will now simply call its products Dell, with suffixes to indicate who they are and what they are intended for. This is to make it easier for consumers to find the Dell computer that fits their needs.
Dell wants to simplify the name to make it easier for people to choose.
At CES 2025 (USA), Dell introduced 3 main product lines: Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max. This new naming convention is reminiscent of iPhone models with basic, Pro and Pro Max versions. Dell Pro and Pro Max products will have additional suffixes such as Plus and Premium, for example Dell Pro 14 Premium. While the basic line is aimed at individual users for daily work and entertainment, the Pro and Pro Max lines focus on business needs.
Specifically, the former Inspiron, Inspiron Plus, and XPS products are now renamed Dell, Dell Plus, and Dell Premium. For the business segment, Latitude and Precision have become Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max, with base, Plus, and Premium versions. While this change may be confusing for those familiar with the old brands, Dell hopes that simplifying the names will make it easier for consumers to find products.
Dell wants to 'go all in' on AI PCs
Dell also did not hesitate to call these new computers AI PCs. The new product line will be equipped with Intel Meteor Lake, AMD Ryzen and Snapdragon X processor options, all of which integrate NPUs for tasks related to artificial intelligence (AI).
What Dell's new computers have in common is what they call AI PCs.
While AI hasn't exactly revolutionized the computing industry, these products promise impressive battery life, similar to what's been seen in laptops like the HP OmniBook X and Dell XPS 13.
The Dell, Dell Plus, and Dell Premium lines are designed for mainstream consumers who need a reliable laptop for work, school, and play. Although they are successors to the Inspiron line, the Dell and Dell Plus have a more modern and sleek design than their predecessors. However, the Dell Premium retains the same design as last year’s Dell XPS, minus the touchpad and physical function keys.
Pricing and official release dates for Dell's new computers have yet to be announced, but that information should be available soon.
