ABBA concert in Hoi An canceled at the last minute

On the evening of 8.19, at the live stage of Hoi An Memories Island, a music night called “Hoi An Memories & ABBA Music Show” took place.

This is considered a special performance within the framework of the Vietnam tour of the band "playing the best ABBA music of all time" ARRIVAL.

A large audience showed up to watch, but the “ABBA Music Show” was canceled due to equipment and technical problems.

However, when hundreds of audiences were present to directly admire the band's outstanding performances, the Organizing Committee suddenly announced that the concert was canceled, leaving both Vietnamese and foreign audiences disappointed and surprised.

A female audience member said that many people arrived at 6:30 p.m. to get to the concert on October 8, but waited forever without seeing the bands perform. After many apologies for the sound system problems, it was not until around 10 p.m. that the organizers officially announced that the concert was canceled.

Audience member K. Hoang said that she was a big fan of the band ABBA, so she and her friends tried every way to buy tickets to go from Da Nang City to Hoi An to see it. Many people even had to buy the most expensive tickets to sit close to the stage.

Many audiences were upset because the concert was canceled.

“On the way from Da Nang to Hoi An, we were all very excited, but we were at the stage from 6pm and waited forever without seeing anyone perform. At 10pm, the organizers announced the cancellation, which left us extremely disappointed,” Ms. Hoang shared.

Immediately afterwards, Hoi An Memories – the venue sponsor for the “ABBA Music Show” program, posted an apology.

Hoi An Memories said that due to force majeure, the weather directly affected the technical equipment, making the performance impossible to guarantee. Therefore, the Organizing Committee (Saigon Symphony Orchestra - SPO) decided to stop the concert. "We sincerely apologize to our guests for this force majeure incident that caused you to have an unsatisfactory experience," a member of the Organizing Committee shared.

The organizers also apologized to the audience after the concert was canceled.

The program organizers decided to propose two solutions:

Specifically, the audience kept the ticket stub and attended the ABBA Music Show on October 9, at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang.

In case the audience cannot attend the show on October 9 at Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang, the entire ticket cost will be refunded.

Accordingly, for audiences who book through agents, audiences will contact the agents who purchased tickets to proceed with the ticket refund procedure.

For audiences who buy directly at Hoi An Memories counter, 100% refund will be given at Hoi An Memories counter.
