On the morning of April 17, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security , the Central Party Secretariat held a conference to disseminate Conclusion No. 132-KL/TW, dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 36-CT/TW, dated August 16, 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat.
Attending the conference at the central bridge were comrades: Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control. The conference was held online to bridge points of provincial, district and commune People's Committees nationwide with more than 376,000 delegates attending.
Chairing the conference at the Dak Nong province bridge were comrades: Ngo Thanh Danh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Luu Van Trung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
At the conference, delegates heard a quick report on the results after 5 years of implementing Directive No. 36-CT/TW, dated August 16, 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat.
The report emphasized that the drug crime situation continues to be complicated, especially at land, sea, air and cyber borders. At the same time, the report pointed out some limitations such as the work of screening and statistics on drug addicts and illegal drug users is not complete; the management of conditional business lines in terms of security and order is still lax, posing a potential risk of drug crimes and social evils.
Delegates were also informed of the key contents of Conclusion No. 132-KL/TW dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 36-CT/TW. Representatives of ministries, branches and localities gave speeches, clarified some remaining issues, proposed solutions, and shared experiences and effective methods in the fight against, prevention and control of drugs in the locality, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the implementation of assigned political tasks.
Concluding the conference, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat, emphasized the key tasks in implementing Conclusion No. 132-KL/TW dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on drug prevention, control and combat.
He requested localities to continue to strengthen the Party's leadership, improve the effectiveness of State management, promote the role of specialized forces and the participation of the entire population. Functional units should step up propaganda work suitable for each target group, focusing on areas with complex drug problems. In addition, the whole country needs to conduct a comprehensive review of drug addicts and illegal drug users to find effective management solutions. The police and border guards should synchronously deploy measures to grasp the crime situation early, especially in border areas, border gates, aviation routes, cyberspace, etc.
