On the morning of April 26, at Vinh Hung A commune (Vinh Loi district), the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of National Special Monument ranking for Vinh Hung Archaeological Site.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). On the provincial leadership side, there were comrade Pham Van Thieu - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, provincial departments and branches, and cadres and people of Vinh Hung A commune.
Vinh Hung Tower has a history of more than 1,000 years. Archaeological documents show that this place used to be a religious and belief center of the Oc-Eo people of the Phu Nam kingdom. Artifacts were discovered through archaeological surveys and excavations at the site in large quantities, rich in genres and materials, typically 5 artifacts recognized as national treasures. With typical historical, cultural and scientific values, the Prime Minister issued Decision 694 to rank Vinh Hung Archaeological Site as a special national relic.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Van Thieu affirmed that Vinh Hung Archaeological Site was ranked as a special national relic not only as a source of pride for the people of Vinh Loi district and Bac Lieu people but also as a contribution to preserving the richness and diversity of the treasure of national tangible cultural heritage. The archaeological documents collected at the site became an important foundation in the early history of the country's founding in the Southern region. Vinh Hung Tower is a typical and unique tower-shaped architecture in the South that is still intact and has the only character of an architectural foundation remaining on the ground of the Oc-Eo culture.

In order to effectively preserve and promote the value of special national relics in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently develop a relic planning to promptly take measures to preserve, renovate and restore the original elements of the relic; orient the spatial organization of auxiliary works, technical infrastructure systems and create a landscape environment in the relic area. In addition, continue to complete the exhibition content and serve the needs of learning and studying of people from all walks of life inside and outside the province; call for investment to upgrade traffic infrastructure, connect tours and routes to make this place an attractive destination.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party, State and Government, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage - Nong Quoc Thanh awarded the Certificate of ranking the Vinh Hung Archaeological Site as a special national monument to the Provincial People's Committee.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the value of relics and establishing records of special national relics.
