In the publication Southern temperament through Son Nam's stories , author Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy researched and studied 134 stories by writer Son Nam including novels (long stories), short stories, notes, memoirs, research papers, articles in newspapers, magazines, etc.
Writer Son Nam is referred to as a “native”, a Southern scholar of culture. Most of Son Nam’s works contribute to completing the picture of social life and people in the South in the 19th - 20th centuries. Thanks to that, through this publication, readers once again understand more about the culture, customs, and identity of the Southern people in their behavior, lifestyle, and in the face of changes and variations in nature, history, etc.

“When reading Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy’s books, what I like most is that she reads a lot of Son Nam’s works, reads and analyzes them very carefully. She has collected a lot of Son Nam’s works, even Son Nam when he was alive once commented that Thanh Thuy collected more than him,” poet Le Minh Quoc expressed.

At the program, author Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy said that the predecessor of the publication Southern Spirit through Son Nam's stories was the topic "Southern Culture and People in Son Nam's Works", which was carried out in 2000, when she was working at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.

“At that time, I considered between Son Nam and Binh Nguyen Loc in the list of many Southern literary authors, and I chose writer Son Nam. There is a funny memory when I contacted writer Son Nam, with those who had a salary, he asked for money to interview him. As for me, he said, you are like a new graduate, no money, just bring coffee. So from then on, every Monday at the beginning of the week, I brought coffee to Go Vap Traditional House, where writer Son Nam often went, to chat with him”, author Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy said.

In addition to readers who love writer Son Nam, the program also had the participation of Ms. Dao Thuy Lieu, the youngest daughter of writer Son Nam. Sharing about the book Southern temperament through Son Nam's stories , Ms. Lieu could not hide her joy and emotion.
“I am very happy for my father, although he passed away 17 years ago, his descendants still have a soul mate, the poet Le Minh Quoc, and now there is also Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy,” Ms. Dao Thuy Lieu shared.
