Regarding the COVID-19 epidemic situation today , the Ministry of Health said that from 4:00 p.m. on April 17 to 4:00 p.m. on April 18, the whole country recorded 1,522 cases, continuing to increase compared to the previous day.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,533,625 infections, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 121st out of 230 countries and territories (on average, there are 116,556 infections per 1 million people).

On the same day, 138 more patients were announced to be cured, bringing the total number of cured cases to 10,615,533.
The number of patients on oxygen is 102, an increase of 88 cases compared to the statistics of the previous day. Of these, 79 patients are on oxygen through a mask, 9 are on high-flow HFNC oxygen, and 14 are on invasive mechanical ventilation.
For the past 109 days, the whole country has not recorded any COVID-19 deaths. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,186, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections. The total number of deaths ranks 26th out of 230 territories, and the number of deaths per 1 million people ranks 141st out of 230 countries and territories in the world .
On April 17, 4,854 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were injected. Thus, the total number of doses of vaccine injected is 266,097,145 doses.
Regarding COVID-19 vaccination, the Ministry of Health said that our country has not changed its recommendations on COVID-19 vaccination. This is still an effective measure, increasing immunity to the Omicron variant, preventing the risk of severe disease progression and death.
