Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Ho Van Vinh, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ninh province; Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province; and Mr. Fukuhara Teppei, Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, co-chaired the press conference.
With the theme "Accompanying comprehensive development - Creating a sustainable future", the Forum will be held on November 25 at FLC Ha Long International Convention Center, Quang Ninh province.
This is an activity organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, aiming to concretize the contents agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders on strengthening the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world, including local cooperation.
The forum established the first regular dialogue and connection mechanism between localities of the two countries, contributing to enhancing exchanges, sharing experiences and promoting substantive cooperation, bringing harmonious benefits to both sides.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is expected to attend and deliver an important speech.
Also attending from Vietnam were leaders of relevant ministries, branches, agencies, the Vietnamese Ambassador and Consuls General of Vietnam in Japan, leaders and representatives of local departments and branches, as well as corporations, general companies, enterprises and typical experts.
On the Japanese side, the Japanese Prime Minister sent a congratulatory message, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam attended with leaders and representatives of 15 Japanese localities, organizations, associations, businesses from Japan as well as Japanese partners operating in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the Forum, there will be more than 100 activities connecting and working between the parties.
The Vietnam-Japan local exhibition was also held with more than 40 booths displaying typical Vietnamese-Japanese local products and an area for cultural exchange and experience between the two countries.

Speaking to the press at the event, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy Le Thi Hong Van said that this Forum has many "firsts".
First of all , this is the first local-level cooperation activity between Vietnam and Japan, organized with the participation at the highest level of the two countries' government leaders.
Second , this is the first time that a large number of Japanese localities have come to Vietnam to participate in activities with 18 localities.
Third , on the part of Vietnamese localities, this is the first time that all 34 new provinces and cities after the merger have participated.
Finally , this is also the first time that Quang Ninh province, after organizing the apparatus, has co-chaired and hosted an international conference with such a large number of participants.
According to the schedule, the Forum will have a number of main activities including the Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam-Japan Local Exhibition; the Plenary Session on Common Vision, Local Action, Creating a New Era; and the Meeting and Connection Activities between the Governments and Businesses of the Two Countries. In addition, the event also has many thematic sessions such as "Resonating local strengths, building a cycle of prosperity: Trade and investment - High-quality agriculture - Human resources", "Journey of encounter: Connecting cultures, inspiring friendship", "Vietnam - Japan local innovation: Intellectual synergy, enhancing values, creating a digital future", "Local cooperation: Enhancing resilience, smart adaptation to climate change". |
