Common electrical incidents during the rainy season are thunderstorms, tornadoes, causing trees and structures to fall onto the grid and power poles, causing widespread power outages. Heavy rains cause flooding, making household electrical equipment unsafe, leaking electricity, and causing short circuits and fires. In order to ensure the safety of the grid as well as the safety of electricity customers, Ninh Thuan Electricity Company has organized the clearing of trees inside and outside the grid corridor, reinforced the foundation structure of pillars in areas at risk of landslides, and replaced old equipment that does not ensure safety to prevent electricity leakage. At the same time, investing in developing and upgrading the grid infrastructure to replace old and outdated equipment with modern equipment capable of remote monitoring and control to promptly detect and handle grid incidents. In particular, priority is given to installing automatic, remote-controlled power switching devices in flood-prone areas to quickly cut off power when an incident occurs. In addition, the company also strengthens propaganda on measures to prevent electrical accidents during heavy rains and storms for people. Develop schedules and plans to inspect and strengthen the power grid to ensure safe, continuous, and reliable power supply for electricity customers, and strictly implement operational discipline and labor safety.

In addition, the unit also develops and regularly updates plans and solutions to ensure the safety of the power grid during the storm season. Closely coordinate with agencies for natural disaster prevention, control, rescue and relief to develop plans to promptly handle emergency situations, handle electrical incidents in storms and floods, ensure safety and quickly resolve incidents. Assign specific tasks to each member, announce hotline numbers for people to contact when there are electrical incidents caused by storms. At the same time, request the power companies of districts and cities to conduct a general inspection of the entire power grid in the area under their responsibility, focusing on inspections in areas that are forecast to greatly affect the operation of the power grid during the storm season such as: Mountainous areas with power lines passing through that are at risk of falling or being buried due to landslides; areas with power lines passing through forests or under tall trees that are at risk of falling, breaking power lines, breaking power poles, causing power grid incidents due to storms and floods; The downstream areas of rivers and streams where power lines pass through are at risk of being flooded due to rising water or having power grid works swept away by floods, and low-lying areas are susceptible to flooding, causing water intrusion into electrical equipment and causing problems. Strengthen inspection of power grids and transformer stations to promptly detect and prevent electrical leakage incidents, causing unsafe power systems and risks to people's lives. Thereby, there are proactive measures and plans to promptly handle existing problems and abnormalities on power lines and transformer stations.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Tien, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Power Company said: Entering the stormy season, electrical incidents are very likely to occur, so in addition to preparing adequate human resources, equipment, and spare materials, the unit also strengthens coordination with functional agencies to promote the dissemination of basic knowledge about electrical safety during the stormy season to organizations, units, and people in the area; proactively respond to situations that may occur to quickly handle damage and incidents that arise, ensuring the restoration and resumption of power supply... to serve the production, business, and daily needs of people after the storm.
