The activity was carried out in 30 communes, wards and towns in the province, investigating 1,530 mother-child pairs.
Children and mothers were weighed and measured for anthropometric indicators. Health workers interviewed mothers about general information and nutritional care during pregnancy and breastfeeding according to a pre-designed questionnaire; interviewed mothers about nutritional care activities for young children according to the contents of the survey form.
The survey aims to collect information on the nutritional status of mothers and children under 5 years old and some related factors as a basis for developing intervention plans for the following years; investigate and monitor the care and nutrition situation, assess the nutritional status of mothers and children under 5 years old, especially breastfeeding and supplementary foods for children.
At the same time, monitor the implementation of the Vitamin A and micronutrient supplementation program, the clinical manifestation of Vitamin A deficiency in children, and assess the level of access to the program to improve children's nutritional status and food security risks in the locality.
