Teacher suspended for beating student for bad grades

A security camera in a middle school in Jinan County, Shandong Province, China, captured a teacher forcing more than 10 students to stand up and scold them. "If I don't beat you up today, I'll be so angry I'll die," the teacher shouted at the students being punished.

The teacher then started kicking one student, then hitting another student in the head. The sound of the blows can be clearly heard in the clip. The teacher also took a long stick from the corner of the classroom to beat the group of students.

The teacher swung his arm and hit the student on the head.

Representatives of the local education agency condemned the teacher's attitude and actions. The reason for the incident was that the recent exam results of this group of students were not good.

"The students could not answer some questions correctly in the exam even though the teacher had explained them many times. However, the teacher's actions were completely inappropriate," the representative said.

Jinan County Education Bureau investigated and suspended this teacher.

The teacher pointed at the student's face, scolded and then hit him.

Social media is divided into two factions, supporting and opposing the teacher's actions. Opposition and comments say: "He committed a crime, the authorities should not just administratively punish him", "This teacher should apologize to the students, hope that schools will not recruit such low-quality people as teachers anymore" .

Some people defend the right to beat students to educate them. "Teachers are responsible for doing so when they see students getting bad grades. Last year, Chinese social media went viral with a clip of a third-grade student being beaten by his teacher for not being able to solve a math problem correctly.
