April 30 holiday: Many flights to tourist hotspots are fully booked

On April 11, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that during the beginning of the holiday period (from April 29 to May 4), the booking rate on tourist flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other localities mostly reached over 50% during the first days of the holiday (April 29 and 30).

Notably, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the booking rate on some routes reached from 85% to 100% on April 30. The routes named by this agency include Hanoi - Hue (89%), Hanoi - Tuy Hoa (94%), Hanoi - Chu Lai (95%), Hanoi - Dong Hoi (103%), Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc (87%), Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao (92.7%), Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa (100%)... At the end of the holiday (from May 3 to May 4), the booking rate increased on flights from the locality back to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Among these, some routes have high booking rates such as: Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City (98%), Tuy Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City (97%), Phu Quoc - Hanoi (100%), Tuy Hoa - Hanoi (99%), Dong Hoi - Hanoi (103%)... For the main routes such as: Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Hanoi - Da Nang, the occupancy rate is still at an average level, reaching an average of 30% to 60%. Particularly, the Hanoi - Da Nang route and vice versa has reached over 70% and is continuing to increase.

Survey data on ticket prices on some routes also shows that on the first day of the holiday (April 29), the price of economy class tickets on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route is currently listed by airlines at a range of 3.4-3.74 million VND depending on the airline. Specifically, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines listed the highest ticket prices at around 3.6 million and 3.7 million, while Vietjet Air offered prices ranging from 2.9-3.68 million VND and Vietravel Airlines recorded prices up to 3.41 million VND. The above prices are equivalent to the prices recorded during the Lunar New Year 2025. On the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route, the ticket price on April 29 was also recorded at a high level, from 2.5 million VND with Vietnam Airlines, while Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways had prices ranging from 1.5-2.2 million VND.

For the Hanoi - Da Nang route, ticket prices are 2.3-3.5 million VND higher with Vietnam Airlines, while the remaining airlines have prices ranging from 1.9-2.4 million VND. For the Hanoi - Phu Quoc route, Vietnam Airlines listed the highest ticket price at 4.5 million VND, while Vietjet Air's prices ranged from 2.7 to 4.3 million, and Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc's ticket prices ranged from 1.6 to 2.7 million VND. Meanwhile, the Hanoi - Cam Ranh route recorded prices ranging from 3.3 to 3.7 million VND. In the opposite direction, from tourist destinations back to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, ticket prices gradually increased during the last days of the holiday. Surveyed on May 4, the highest ticket price for the Cam Ranh - Hanoi route was recorded by VietJet Air at 3.68 million VND, while the remaining airlines have currently sold out all economy class tickets. From Cam Ranh to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietjet Air recorded a price of 1.8 million VND, while Vietnam Airlines' highest price was up to 2.7 million VND. On the Phu Quoc - Hanoi route on May 4, all economy class tickets are sold out, while on the return route to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Airlines' ticket prices range from 1.9-2.7 million VND, while the remaining airlines (Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines) all recorded an average price of 1.8 million VND.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam predicted that people's demand for air travel during the holiday would increase sharply. According to the plan, domestic airlines will operate more than 7,500 domestic flights during this peak period, an average of about 685 flights per day. Compared to normal days, the number of flights increased by more than 24%, the number of seats provided increased by about 20%. Notably, flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City still account for the largest proportion, an average of more than 460 flights per day. For the route connecting Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, providing 305,000 seats. To enhance passenger service, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced adjustments to the parameters for coordinating landing and take-off times at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the April 30 - May 1 holiday and the summer peak of 2025.

Specifically, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday period (from April 25 to May 5, 2025), the Civil Aviation Authority will increase the runway and taxiway coordination parameters and flight assurance services to 46 flights/hour from 6:00 to 23:00; adjust 36 flights/hour from 0:00 to 5:00. On April 11, a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that the unit is developing a plan to increase service for the upcoming April 30 peak period. According to experts, putting Terminal T3 into operation early is the most fundamental and effective solution to help reduce congestion pressure at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
