Attending and receiving the delegation were comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of departments, agencies and branches of Son La province.
In an atmosphere of special friendship, comrade Hoang Van Nghiem warmly welcomed the delegation to visit Son La, and at the same time gave general information about the socio -economic development situation of the province and the results of cooperation between Son La province and international partners, including Cuba.
The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, which was nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro, is an exemplary symbol of international solidarity. Despite the geographical distance, the two countries always stand side by side, share and support each other in the struggle for national liberation, and in building and defending the socialist Fatherland.
Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem expressed his deep appreciation for Cuba's sentiments and valuable assistance to Son La during difficult years, especially the support for the construction of Moc Chau Dairy Farm in the 1970s and 1980s.
From the herd of breeding cows and the technology of raising cattle transferred from Cuba, Moc Chau has now become the dairy capital of the North, the foundation for the development of Moc Chau Milk Joint Stock Company (Moc Chau Milk) - a strong brand of Vietnam, contributing to helping thousands of households escape poverty and become rich.
Son La province hopes that in the coming time, the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam will continue to be a bridge to promote cooperation between Cuban localities and Son La, especially in the fields of high-tech agriculture, education, health, culture and tourism, contributing to making the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba increasingly stronger.
Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes thanked Son La province for its warm welcome and congratulated the locality on its achievements in socio-economic development.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his gratitude for the sincere sentiments and valuable support that Vietnam and the people of Son La have given to Cuba, and affirmed that he will continue to make efforts to foster and develop the traditional cooperative relationship between the two countries and expand substantive cooperation between localities and businesses of both sides.
During the working trip, the delegation visited Moc Chau Dairy Cow Breeding Center, Moc Chau Milk Factory and some livestock farms in Thao Nguyen ward.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes highly appreciated the efforts of the government, businesses and people in developing the dairy farming industry associated with the application of high technology, forming a chain linking production, processing and product consumption, contributing significantly to promoting the local economy and preserving the "Moc Chau-Cuba" friendship forever.
