
From November 17-21, a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, and Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, visited and worked in Spain.
During the visit, the delegation had meetings with leaders of the Spanish National Assembly , Government agencies and political parties, including: First Vice President of the Spanish Senate Javier Maroto; Chairman of the Spanish Parliamentary Committee on Justice Joaquin Salmeron; General Secretary of the Spanish Communist Party Enrique Santiago Romero; President of the Spanish United Left Party Alliance Antonio Maíllo; Secretary of State for the Ministry of the Prime Minister, Justice and Parliamentary Relations Rafael Simancas; Deputy Secretary General of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Begona Nasarre Oliva. The delegation visited and met with officials and staff of the Embassy and had a friendly talk with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Spain.
During the meetings, comrade Phan Dinh Trac shared some information and major policies of the Party on the situation of the country and the achievements of Vietnam's socio-economic development after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi; the results achieved by the 13th National Party Congress, especially in the development of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, education and training development and people's health care; discussed the situation of Vietnam-Spain relations, some international and regional issues of mutual concern; and shared experiences with the Spanish side in State governance, building and perfecting legal institutions, judicial innovation and preventing and combating corruption.
Welcoming and highly appreciating the visit and working session of the Party delegation led by comrade Phan Dinh Trac, the Spanish side considered this an important activity to contribute to concretizing the results of the official visit of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Vietnam in April 2025; expressed admiration and congratulated the economic, social and foreign affairs achievements that Vietnam has achieved in recent times, especially in the context of complicated developments in the world and the region and in a short time, Vietnam has successfully carried out the revolution of streamlining the apparatus and administrative reform.

Leaders of the Spanish National Assembly, government agencies and political parties affirmed that they attach great importance to the friendship and strategic partnership with Vietnam; consider Vietnam a priority partner of Spain in Southeast Asia and wish to expand cooperation in all fields.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the positive developments in the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in recent times, especially the results achieved after the historic visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Vietnam in April 2025, especially the positive growth in trade turnover in the first 10 months of 2025, reaching 3.7 billion USD, an increase of about 6% over the same period in 2024, and expected to reach about 5 billion USD for the whole year of 2025.
On the basis of enhanced political trust, good growth in two-way trade and increasingly expanded and in-depth cooperation in various fields, the two sides agreed to closely coordinate to implement the agreed contents, soon bringing the bilateral relationship to a new height.
The Spanish side affirmed that parliamentarians of the country's political parties, regardless of left-wing or right-wing political tendencies, all wish to promote cooperation in all fields with Vietnam, especially in investment in the field of renewable energy, one of the key industries in Spain; said that Spanish businesses are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market; requested the Vietnamese Government to pay attention, create favorable conditions for investors, ensure security and support the development of Spanish language teaching in Vietnam; affirmed that they will continue to support Vietnam, mobilize the remaining European Union (EU) countries to soon ratify the Investment Protection Agreement between the EU and Vietnam (EVIPA) and urge the European Commission to consider removing the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.
The General Secretary of the Spanish Communist Party and the President of the United Left Party Alliance agreed to strengthen cooperation and further deepen relations with our Party in the context of complicated changes in the world situation, escalating protectionism and populism, and many difficult-to-control hotspots.
Comrade Phan Dinh Trac affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to and pay attention to promoting the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Spain, Vietnam's first strategic partner in Europe; emphasizing the respect for the solidarity, support and assistance that the Spanish people have given to Vietnam in the past resistance war to protect the Fatherland as well as in the current cause of national renewal and development.
In the exchange with senior leaders of Spain, comrade Phan Dinh Trac suggested that the two sides continue to maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, through all Party, State and people-to-people channels; effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms such as Political Consultation and the Joint Committee on Economy, Trade and Investment, and expand the establishment of new cooperation frameworks, especially in priority areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, renewable energy, etc.
Based on the good relations between the two countries, comrade Phan Dinh Trac suggested that Spain continue to pay attention and create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Spain (about 7,000 people) to integrate more deeply into the host society, maintain the national cultural identity and Vietnamese language, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Spain and strengthening the friendship between the people of the two countries.

Talking with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Spain, comrade Phan Dinh Trac informed the people about some of the country's outstanding achievements in recent times in the fields of economic development, social security, foreign affairs, reform and streamlining of the administrative apparatus and some major policies of our Party on science and technology, education and training, people's health care, private economic development, law-making, anti-corruption...
Comrade Phan Dinh Trac also answered a number of questions, thoughts and aspirations of Vietnamese expatriates in Spain, especially on the issue of nationality; supporting overseas Vietnamese to maintain teaching and learning Vietnamese for generations of children and adopted children of Vietnamese people in Spain; policies to attract overseas intellectuals, expand connections with Spanish intellectuals to contribute to supporting the development of the country.
