Vietnam sports delegation departs to compete at Asiad 19

At 10:00 a.m. on September 20, the flight carrying the Vietnamese sports delegation took off for China to compete in the 19th Asian Games.

Most of the main members of the Vietnamese sports delegation arrived in China on September 20 at two departure points: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In Hanoi, Mr. Dang Ha Viet - Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training and Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation - led the delegation with 47 members including: officials, experts, coaches, athletes of gymnastics and boxing. In Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation started with 13 people of swimming and boxing.

Speaking at the farewell ceremony held at Noi Bai airport, head of the delegation Dang Ha Viet affirmed: "Today the Vietnamese sports delegation set off to compete at the 19th Asiad . The preparation process for the congress was full of hardship and hardship, but up to now the work has been completed.

The Vietnamese sports delegation is ready, the athletes are ready. We are always aware of our responsibility to be worthy of the trust and love of the people of the whole country. Each member of the delegation is a representative, a symbol of the red flag with yellow star, that flag is always in our hearts."

Mr. Dang Ha Viet said that the Vietnamese sports delegation will strive to achieve the best results in terms of expertise, achieving the target of winning 2-5 gold medals at the 19th Asiad.

Gymnast Nguyen Van Khanh Phong said he was quite nervous about his first time participating in the 19th Asian Games. Previously, Khanh Phong won the 2023 Asian silver medal and the 32nd SEA Games gold medal in the rings event.

Khanh Phong said: "I will try my best to have a memorable 19th Asiad. My team and I have prepared carefully and hope to compete with the best results."

According to the schedule, in the afternoon of the same day, the plane carrying the Vietnamese sports delegation will land at Pudong Airport, Shanghai (China). After completing immigration procedures, the Vietnamese sports delegation will be transported by the organizing committee's car to the Asian Games Athletes Village located in Hangzhou city.

The flag-raising ceremony of the Vietnamese sports delegation will take place on the morning of September 22.
